(54,506 posts)Fairfax County is THE Mecca of and for liberal/progressive suburban Washington, DC. If Fairfax County has a heavy turnout, it usually means a good counterbalance (sometimes overwhelming) to more right-wing areas in rural and southwest Virginia. Light voting in Fairfax is usually bad news for us.
This doesn't automatically mean it's yet time to break out the champagne (so don't), but it is encouraging.

(2,205 posts)Fairfax County went for Hillary Clinton Tuesday, giving her 63 percent of their vote, with 269,150 votes with 99 percent of the precincts reporting.
As of about 2 p.m. in Fairfax County, the elections office estimated about 300,000 had voted so far at Fairfax County's 243 precincts Tuesday and about 125,000 have voted absentee. The county said they are seeing about a 45 percent turnout (it was unclear if they meant Tuesday or Tuesday plus absentee).
