I keep hearing that reconciliation is going to be used to pass the Tax bill. I thought they wasted that on Healthcare and couldn't use it again until next session?

(183,040 posts)Which I read yesterday was the agreed upon limit. Problem is that Trump's own alma mater Penn-Wharton scored it as slightly higher. Even with the new fiscal year they wouldn't be able to use reconciliation if it's over $1.5T. Or so I read.

(52,501 posts)they were already planning on using the new year's reconciliation process for the tax cut, meaning they wouldn't be able to use it for healthcare.
technically, they can use the reconciliation process for one spending bill, one revenue bill, and one debt limit bill per fiscal year.
i'm not sure why they couldn't have considered the tax cut a revenue bill and healthcare a spending bill, but apparently they can't. maybe because healthcare has both spending and revenue parts.
in any event, they could, in theory, try again to repeal healthcare using reconciliation in october 2018, or maybe right after the elections.
