In the midst of everything, Trump is meeting with Putin this weekend (this is the second on-the-books meeting in his very young presidency). Out of curiosity how many times did Obama, Bush II, and/or their top people meet with Putin and top Russian officials?! In the first nine months of Trump's residency in the WH he's met with Putin twice openly, and of course there was the infamous leaked-photos meeting with Trump, Kislyak, and Labrov, big happy smiles all around, in the Oval Office, during which U.S. press wasn't allowed in the room.
The source is the Moscow Times (and I'm not sure about the source) but this meeting has been confirmed, and it is definitely happening. Even Fox News is avoiding much discussion of it. Once again, it seems like an extremely odd thing for Trump to do given his situation. The Russia investigation is heating up, his poll numbers are at historic lows, the Repubs lost YUUUUGE in the elections last night and Trump was a huge drag on the Repubs (health care was the top concern in the exit polling data!!!), we just had two horrific mass shootings and a terrorist attack in NY, and the tax bill is in jeopardy as more Repubs express opposition. And that's just the beginning!!! Polls are showing that the majority of the American people, and the majority of Repubs, now believe his campaign in some way colluded with Russia.
Despite these widespread concerns, including a majority of Repubs who now think the Trump campaign in some way colluded with Russia (according to recent polls), here is Trump meeting again with Putin when a face-to-face meeting is not even necessary. Bizarre, flagrant behavior regarding Russia yet again (or is it that Putin snaps his fingers and Trump must show up?). How much do you want to bet that those sanctions against Russia are challenged by Trump after this meeting because "we need Putin" to help us beat the war drum hysteria re: NoKo?! Trump makes the U.S. look as though we are part of the Putin machine, a proxy of Russia. Our president appears to do Putin's bidding without hesitation. Sigh.
"President Vladimir Putin will meet U.S. President Donald Trump at a summit in Vietnam this weekend after all, Russias Foreign Minister confirmed Wednesday..
The two world leaders previously met on the sidelines of the G20 Summit in Hamburg in July, agreeing to a local cease-fire in Syria and a working group on cybersecurity that Trump later backtracked on.
Trump said that during his trip to Asia he planned to meet Putin in Vietnam to seek his help in preventing North Korea from pursuing its nuclear weapons program"

(5,611 posts)Trump, our "president," has humiliated our country more than any president in our history. Trump looks like Putin's little chew/hump toy, and Trump for all of his professed patriotism shits all over our institutions (he has criticized the FBI, the justice department, our court system, our legal standards, the procedural rules followed by congress and the senate, etc. Yeah, Steve Bannon, Trump is SO patriotic and cares SO much about coal miners and other members of the working class -- fuck you Steve and fuck the orange horse you rode in on!
Trumpy-poo runs to Putin whenever Putin snaps his fingers. It's amazing that none of the Trump morons on his team tell Trump that this visit is really not a good idea right now. Not that he'd listen of course -- Putin has to give Trump his orders and scold him for his pathetic approval numbers and inability to get rid of the Russia sanctions.
