Bring Out The Gurneys - GOP Wants Medicaid Work/Means Tested.

Donald Trump's rhetoric on medicaid exposes the GOP desire to screen Medicaid recipients for work. What they want would parallel the practice used under the workman's compensation system. That would be to require to have Medicaid recipients work for whatever job they could do in the private sector even if they are sick or disabled.

I used to work at DOL and would get people coming in at the requirement of the comp system to look for any work they could do. That would require what they COULD do in the face of their disability. The GOP wants you to work even if you are on a gurney or carry oxygen, use a wheel chair, et al. Even if you are sick and pretty much unemployable they want you to be forced to DO SOMETHING" to earn your health care.

The media does not challenge their generic rhetoric that disguises what they would demand sick people or disabled people would have to do to get medical care. Politicians are good at hiding the details and real consequences of their bullshit rhetoric.

We can only look to Nazi Germany to understand how ambiguous misleading rhetoric can be used against people.

No one producing? The family starves.

Would this require applicants to get assessed by a government official or just a doctor?

but no one will hire him. He cannot commit to regular hours. Major health issues. So he volunteers. The community theater group he volunteers with loves him.

His girlfriend (in a wheelchair) did work as a dispatcher until she had to get a colostomy bag and they let her go because they felt she would not be able to maintain a regular schedule. She too is in and out of the hospital. She and my son met while volunteering.

People have ho idea how hard it is for the disabled to regular, paying work.

Due to health insurance and other potential liabilities many employers avoid anyone who would be a risk to their insurance profile. There are disabled who can work and would like to. My OP is about people who cannot possibly work because of work barrier factors. The GOP is targeting people who are actually unable to work even if they wanted to.
