Pundits, Cons, even some Dems.....DEms shouldn't count their chickens after all, Va. was already nearly blue, in-fighting with Dems ...so on and so forth. And those DEms shouldn't have expectations for 2018. Peter Baker & Katy Kay were especially negative.
So let them all blab, blab, blab...they are so arrogant they won't see the Dems coming.

(100,146 posts)That's why this Donna Brazile thing broke - it's just another attempt to distract us. We cannot let them keep riding on fear and misinformation. We have to stay strong and focused. Last night was a great victory, and we should enjoy this one! We still have a long road ahead, and the GOP needs their asses kicked for what they did. Resist nazism, fascism, racism, and Donald Trump. It's the patriotic thing to do!
Wonderful diversity, along with candidates like Northam, played very much in our favor last night, not only in Va. but across the country. WE are a party of inclusion and should stay that way. Keep on keeping on Dems.

It has nothing to do with "discrediting liberals", in fact it was Ms. Brazile trying to discredit the Democratic party, create a sensationalist story right before an important election where the Democrats needed a moral victory, to sell her damn book.
It didn't matter that much of the information in that book was flawed, and inaccurate, it provided the fuel to the fire so every national news outlet spewed it out on the airwaves, with the potential to divide Democrats.
Fortunately, those voting in yesterdays election were not influenced by her garbage that the "Democratic party has a cancer in it", and they came out in droves.
Whether it was Donna Brazile brazen accusations, or Jill Stein's false equivalency rantings about no difference between the Democrats and the republicans, it didn't work this time.

(25,485 posts)Can she even vote?

(35,454 posts)Her immediate response to the Rep. Wilson incident was to disparage the Congresswoman and now on Ari Meyer, she is a real Debby Downer.
As to voting, she is still a Brit citizen

(25,485 posts)British or Australian hosts on MSNBC commenting on politics..
An exception is Jonathan Swan from Axios...he's a Aussie that really seems to have good info
In the UK, it would hardly fly, an American commenting on politics..

(7,299 posts)This totally disgusts me because we have had such a hard time the last year and we are being told that it is wrong to enjoy a small moment of success.

(35,454 posts)But the day after wins, both hoped for and unexpected, we can take a moment to breathe. I don't think anyone is fooling themselves about what lies ahead but I'm shocked at how much the wins are being downplayed.

(42,862 posts)... (apparently) for a "told-ya-so" opportunity. I know that REAL progressives wouldn't be doing that, and that's why I put it in quotes... because anyone who does such a thing is not a REAL progressive.
Fortunately MIRT has been very good at zapping them (Thanks, MIRT!)

(17,027 posts)I expect us to run as many good candidates as we can. I expect us to support those candidates every way we can whether that's financially, working phone banks, knocking on doors or GOTV. Why the hell shouldn't I have those expectations?

(16,905 posts)If the GOP had had a similar night, you can bet your ass they would be blasting GOP wins decisively to the heavens. Thats just a reality of where we find ourselves right now.
Yet, the real winner from last night, is the power of the local level GOTV grassroots movement. Its not been highlighted enough and it should be. Within that movement lies our power. For most of us, the only tangible impact we can have is via our local politics. VA in particular is a great example of local, grass roots efforts that have been ongoing for months to achieve the goals they won last night. We have to block out the corporate media noise and focus on our own communities. Im fired up to do more...I hope others are as well.
