Or is it too late for that?
If they still could, who would it likely be? Would they just bring "Strange Luther" back?

(19,286 posts)Ballots are already approved and printed. They could write in a candidate, but it's doubtful a write in would win.
Sen. Walter Sobchak
(8,692 posts)but his support was probably greater still since many dixiecrats probably couldn't spell his name.

(50,254 posts)(And I remember reading an ancient Art Buchwald column about the literacy test, in which a black voter was disqualified for making a minor grammatical mistake in ancient Greek-IIRC-and the white voter behind him passed by correctly guessing two out of three letters in the word "cat" .
Was trying to find out if write-ins were permitted in Alabama, though.
Also, could they "Lurleen Wallace" it and put Moore's wife on the ballot?

(6,378 posts)It's hard to win as a write-in, but Murkowski actually did it in 2010.

(590 posts)I love this idea. And half the Republican voters could vote for Moore while the other half votes for Strange. Very nice.

(50,254 posts)Are write-ins permitted in Alabama?
Also, would Strange be the person they'd go to, given that he's the one who went down in flames in the primary?
bearsfootball516
(6,378 posts)He's the only person with any name recognition.

(2,857 posts)But not for Strange due to a sore loser law.
There is a write in campaign already started that I noticed last week. Last I saw he had under 300 likes on his page, but I bet that changes

(41 posts)only applies to names being printed on the ballot. I interpret the rules that write-ins are excluded from the law, but I could be wrong.

(41 posts)I live in Baldwin County Alabama, which is one of the reddest areas of the state. Prior to today's news I had heard a lot of republicans here say that they just can't bring themselves to vote for Moore and I have been starting to feel really confident about Doug's chances. There are Doug Jones signs all over the place and I have only seen ONE for Roy Moore. This news worries me now -- all of those people who wouldn't vote for Moore would probably jump at the chance to write in Luther Strange if Fox news tells them they can.
Brother Buzz
(36,505 posts)I can live with that.

(41 posts)My hope is that Roy Moore believes he's God's choice for the senate and refuses to step down - that is HIGHLY likely. I also think a lot of the votes for Strange in the primary were strictly anti-Moore votes. Even my Fox-loving parents were very unhappy with their choices. Now that the public has gotten to know Doug Jones better, he might still pull a few republican votes regardless of who the GOP pushes in the next few weeks.

(36,505 posts)We'll see how this shakes out in the next few weeks, but it's looking like Jones just may be in the catbird seat.

(2,857 posts)I'm betting it's redder than you, lol.
I noticed a write in candidate last week the reps were ready to flay alive. We will probably hear more from him.

(2,857 posts)Ron Bishop is running as a libertarian, but the other guy I'll have to see the ad again to get the name. He is a republican and it seems like the name started with a Mc. People are pissed and say a dem must have put him up to this on the ad comments.
I'm pushing Doug Jones but telling the reps to write in whoever they please if they can't vote for a dem. At least that way Moore doesn't get that vote.

Someone expressed that opinion, but I poo-pooed it until I read this posting.
Nothing would surprise me these days, could be a Bannon think tank deal. (or should I say stink-tank.... look at that fucker!)

(10,437 posts)So it's real possibility that Jones can win this with Moore too cowardly to face jones in debate and running from press over pedophillia questions
What a hoot and REAL karma
