(7,709 posts)was a "likely R" clear majority (by 10-15%), as were those counties in NE Ohio that just flipped a bunch of seats blue -- we're in really "interesting" times now.
Was the moon landing a "likely" success? Absolutely not. But we persevered and did it.
People who survive cancer often talk about looking at the statistics -- i.e., 80% chance of death. They all talk about deciding early on that they were going to be part of the 20% survival rate, and move accordingly.
Just sayin'.

That said, lumping all Republicans into a basket of deplorables is indeed the wrong thing to do and counter productive.
