Our candidate in 2020 needs to be a healer.

I despise the Deplorables with every fiber of my being for saddling America with a malignant clown like Donald Trump but love for my nation trumps my desire for revenge.

Our nation is sick. A plague of nativism, racism, and xenophobia has blanketed our land. Maybe it can't be saved but it is incumbent upon us to try.

Our candidate need not be a left wing version of Trump but a healer.

I also think it's a great electoral strategy. You can never go lower than Trump. It's impossible.

We are going to need someone who can do that, and is a known, stable, soothing, reliable commodity.

And go back to other campaigns, and other candidates for ideas.

I am not saying he will win, but as the OP and you note, the country is going to need a calm, experienced, reasonable presence. Someone who has the knowledge to put the government back together.

He is likeable, super experienced, good foreign policy chops to start to get some of our status abroad back ...

I like Warren more, and while she isn't afraid to hit the Rs, she also has a bit of a common person way to her and I think she could do it, but right now Biden just seems to be what people will be looking for.

Obama was a good example of a healer, with a steady hand, and he tried to work with the repubs. We see how that turned out.

I want the next Dem candidate for Prez to be strong, forceful, and to stand up for what they believe. Haveing a clear path foward is what will "heal" the nation.

That doesn't mean a left-wing version of Trump. We don't need a demagogue who speaks to white grievance from the left. At the same time, we definitely do not want a touchy-feely person who can be painted as weak.

The main reason his jailers freed him was because he was the only person that could stop South Africa from descending into chaos.

The way to beat Trump is not to be louder and talk more shit more him. No person can be louder and talk more shit than him.

To take up space, we need a president and his/her second in command to be on top of their game just to be able to start fixing the things these traitors are trying to destroy.

Our next VP needs to step up and be the person to take over after eight years of his/her on the job training.

They need to be a no brainer to take over the top spot when called.

While every delegate elected in my commonwealth (Virginia) may not realize it, the huge turnout for Democratic candidates was a clarion call that we want to start the healing.

I am so glad you said this. The turnout was not just about backlash, it was for sanity and with sanity, comes healing.

And Northam ran as a healer. He eschewed the low road that Gillepsie had taken and defeated him soundly.

I am so very much in agreement with you about this, DSB.

I don't know who our candidate will be in 3 years, but we will need an uniter and not a divider. I believe justice will happen wrt to this administration, but I don't want vengeance as a part of the candidate's platform.

neutralize FOX propaganda fake news and right wing radio, to get people to believe in facts and truth again. But my wishing won't heal these brainwashed people.

We need to shut down people like Bannon among others who continue to divide people, on race, gender and race. And this attack on progressives or liberals has to gooooooooooo.

I want to see the Bannons, Sean Hannity's, Stephen Miller and the fucking don the con all get their just desserts.

We need to restore our standing on the world stage that will take our Democratic nominee a lot of our support and help.
