(82,849 posts)I think they'll weigh all the pros and cons, and decide that this Senate seat can go Democratic until 2020. Sometimes you just gotta take your lumps, and if Moore doesn't win (not a dead cert in any case), they figure they can take it back from Jones. It would certainly crimp the Senate's ability to pass anything (lowering the acceptable number of defections from the party ranks from three to two), but I don't think they're all that invested in governing anyway. A Jones victory gives McConnell every excuse he needs to explain to his dumbass base that he'd love to carry out their demented agenda, but he just doesn't have the votes, darn it all!

We will have to wait and see.
