U.S. recipients of Nobel Prizes for science and economics will not meet with President Trump or be feted at the White House when they visit Washington this week, a break with past administrations.
Eight American scientists and academics were announced as winners of the prestigious prizes last month. Six of them are expected to attend a Nobel symposium at the Swedish Embassy on Tuesday. The annual event is typically timed to coordinate with a White House invitation for American winners.

(34,127 posts)So many people - even folks who aren't distinguished scientists (people recognized for their brains) have declined invitations to the White House. He's probably afraid these folks will refuse, as well, and is preempting losing face.
I never wanted to be part of the smart kids clique, anyway. So there.

(3,335 posts)important or prestigious as the Nobel Peace Prize is worthy of a visit to the White House accompanied by the appropriate sized reception. I'm am surprised however, if the Dotard and his staff, are rank amateurs and therefore, not up to the task. Or perhaps Trump's just angry that President Obama received the Nobel Peace Prize in his first year as President and Trump didn't, and therefore didn't want to call attention to that fact, knowing that everyone else in the room would have known that and he didn't want to be reminded of that fact.
