Before departing Manila on AF1 @POTUS on #UCLA b-ball player arrests in China:

"What they did was unfortunate. You know, you're talking about very long prison sentences. They do not play games. President Xi has been terrific on that subject. But that was not a good subject."

The President of Chinese Prisons.

I really think the hubris the UCLA players showed is stunning. They're little shits. Hopefully this incident will teach them not to be little shits anymore.

Having said that, this seems like an easy win for trump. Tell Xi to release them. It's a no brainer. Look like a good negotiator. Xi is just waiting for trump to look strong.

Then he releases this insane word salad and looks like a nincompoop.

Xi should keep the players there bc of it. Trump is giving him no reason to release them.

sometimes i listen to the crappy sports talk shows. today's major story: how Great Savior Trump spared these irresponsible dolts from a lengthy prison sentence in China. coincidentally, one of the players stars in a reality show. what do you suppose the message will be?

They would do well to get hit with a punitive fine and a few months of community service in rural China to give them a perspective on those that cannot afford to stay in hotels or wear designer sunglasses. It would be the best thing that ever happened to them. I do not believe that they should have to do hard time unless that is what would happen as a normal penalty for those crimes.
