sports - Trump "convinced" Xi to let the UCLA basketball players off the hook

the three players who got arrested for shoplifting while the team toured in China, including LeAngelo Ball. apparently shoplifting carries a 3-10 year sentence in China. they're heading home soon.

something smells very fishy to me about this whole incident. no accident that the Ball daddy has a reality show imho. i fully expect there will be bigly gratitude shown to Trump now, and much talk of what a great negotiator he is. nice PR for Shitler - gets in with the Ball show, and pumps his racist base at the same time.

All high dollar upscale.

other Americans and those from other countries who also were accused/convicted of theft and determine how their cases played out. I suspect that the State Department (the one that Trump is gutting) intervened to some degree in those cases. That should be the story here.

Trump is not going overseas to negotiate every case in the future, and the UCLA basketball players are no more important than any other American in China.
