Limbaugh: Moore was a Democrat at time of sexual misconduct allegations

From The Hill: http://thehill.com/homenews/media/360346-limbaugh-moore-was-a-democrat-at-time-of-sexual-misconduct-allegations

Conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh on Tuesday criticized Republicans for distancing themselves from Alabama GOP Senate candidate Roy Moore, while saying that Moore was a Democrat at the time he allegedly engaged in sexual misconduct with teenage girls.

“Did you know that before 1992, when a lot of this was going on, that Judge Moore was a Democrat?” Limbaugh said on his radio show. “Nobody said a word.”

“When he supposedly was attracted to inappropriately-aged girls — he was a Democrat,” Limbaugh added.

Limbaugh also went after Republicans who have called on Moore to step aside from the race.

“No matter what the real stories are here, and no matter what the evidence is, these guys, these people on the Republican side, are making it clear they are going to prevent this guy from ever being seated in the United States Senate,” Limbaugh said.

A new low, even for Limbaugh. Like it matters or has any bearing on anything at all in any way?

5. Southern Strategy

The Democratic party WAS the southern racist party until sometime in the 1920s...

They were still the party of conservative southerners right up until Nixon's southern strategy... and for probably 20 years past Nixon.

My racist grandmother (from Georgia) was a Democrat. My conservative parents were Republicans...

I'm a liberal and a Democrat, but I have no association with the party of the old south,

...when civil rights measures under Truman spurred Stromm Thurman and others to balk and form the Dixiecrat Party.

Then, on top of domestic reasons, Southern segregationists were Soviet propagandists' wet dreams come true in a decolonializing world. The public lynchings, murders in the night, burning crosses, dogs, fire hoses, beatings, everything the Rooskies could want to undermine America in the eyes of the world, foaming bigoted southerners handed them on a platter...

... just like they're doing today.

for "suspect conduct" and other "bar complaints". So to say his behavior was "ignored" as a Democrat is, of course, not true. Even when appointed as a temporary replacement for a circuit court judge who had died, the county DA had reservations about him after doing a background check. By this time he had switched parties. At the local level, a lot of politicians switch parties to give themselves the best chance of winning the seat they are going after. So, rush is full of shit once again.

You just didn't run for any local office in the South as a Republican in the South in the 70s. The Democratic primary was the big battle and the Republican candidate, if one even ran, almost always lost.

That's when voting blue at the bottom of the ticket and red at the top happened frequently in the South, and did pretty much until the Tea Party movement.

Edit to add: Obviously the "blue" shade in the South then was awfully pale. Not defending that era's Southern Democrats, many of whom were atrocious and would have, as Moore did, left the party as things changed.

So to me it matters not at what point in time Moore jumped into bed with the Republicans,
perverts need to be seen for what they do, not their politics, religion, marital status, etc.

So again, likely opportunistic reasoning for both his perverted political and perverted sexual conquests.

He finally got appointed to fill a vacancy by a Republican governor and switched his party affiliation, whereupon he started winning.

Democrats, even in Alabama in those olden days, didn't want him.

is that Limbaugh and others of his ilk REFUSE to admit or acknowledge that political IDEOLOGY has stayed constant, but the identifying labels have not.

No "Southern Democrat" of the 1960's would be caught dead within a mile of the word "Liberal" today.

This bullshit extends all the way to blaming the Democratic party for the genesis of the KKK. To suggest that the founders of that group were liberal progressives is laughable.

The names have changed. NOT the ideology. Roy Moore was NEVER a liberal, full stop.

It doesn’t even matter that he’s a Republican now. He’s a pedophile who doesn’t deserve to win, and that is all.

Rush is a tribalist turd who needs to be scooped up and dumped into the trash (in a non-literal way).
