Like they did the recent Georgia race...
Alabama voters are a paranoid lot. They tend to circle the wagons when they feel threatened or out-numbered.
I have heard that Jones has turned down help from the national Party but this is such a huge story, it is difficult for it to not become "nationalized".
Since Trump voters will believe almost anything, maybe it is best to tell them that Democrats want Moore to win because he will be the easiest Republican to defeat?
So far, it seems like the Democratic Party has been keeping their distance and letting the Republicans destroy themselves.
Which is the best political strategy?

GOTV - if we need to spend money getting drivers to get folks to the polls then do it.
Make sure Democratics have a voting strategy.
Then let it go.

Like the fact that significant portions of the state are susceptible to fucking hookworms because they don't have a sewer system.

(82,849 posts)Include an encouraging note, and suggest that Jones get out in the smaller towns as much as possible in the next three weeks. Alabama's not a huge state, and media is relatively cheap. Walk, run, bicycle, drive across it every day from now until Dec. 10. Run ads pointing out Jones' long record of stellar public service to the people and state of Alabama, and his dedication to work for all the people.

With them going at it as they are I think we simply foster the fight. Im sure a lot of voters in Alabama dont want this to be a national campaign or in the spotlight. I dont think they will circle the wagon. I think we are overestimating the depravity of the average Alabama voter. Jones needs to stay out of it. Everyone else should push it. Talk shows. Editorials. Press releases.

Even local Alabamans are having a hard time getting people to publicly support Jones.
Sad thing is that being labeled a Democrat in that part of the nation is almost akin to being a Satan-worshiper. If Doug ran as an Independent, he'd probably be ahead in the polls right now.
Best $$ should be spent on targeting likely women voters. The party has some talent in Texas that could help provide strategy.
