The President* Needs a New HR Department
The White House's hiring record is...spotty.

Only the best people, Chapter XVI. From The Hill:
A CNN KFile report earlier Thursday revealed that Johnson had made comments disparaging African-Americans and Muslims during several talk radio appearances prior to his April appointment. The radio show appearances ranged from 2008 to 2016. On one show, Johnson blamed black Americans for turning "major cities into slums because of laziness, drug use and sexual promiscuity." On another, he told listeners that "[Islam] is not a religion of peace," adding: "I agree with {conservative political commentator} Dinesh D'Souza, your friend and mine, who says all that Islam has ever given us is oil and dead bodies over the last millennia and a half."
And what was Johnsons old job? Wait for it.
The Rev. Jamie Johnson, director of the Center for Faith-Based & Neighborhood Partnerships at the Department of Homeland Security (DHS)
Its almost like Be A Colossal Dick to the people you most directly serve is a job requirement with this bunch. And that reminds us to check in with Brett Talley, the retired ghostbuster whom the administration* is trying to park in the federal judiciary for the rest of his life. Whats up, Brett? Oh, look, you made Slate!
Uh-oh.
Heaven forbid we let the facts get in the way of your righteous indignation, but Forrest, when he decommissioned his men, told them to make peace with the men they had fought and live as good citizens of the United States. It was only after the perceived depredations of the Union army during reconstruction that Forrest joined (it is highly unlikely that he founded or acted as the Grand Wizard) the first KKK, which was entirely different than the KKK of the early 19th Century. When the Klan turned to racial violence, he distanced himself from the organization as he had long supported the reconciliation of the races. In fact, he often spoke to black organizations.
I blame Ken Burns.
