'He's Embarrassed Me': In North Carolina, Trumpists Start to Turn

The group doesn’t bring up the Russia probe at all. But they have a lot to say about the opioid crisis, and health care.

WILMINGTON, North Carolina—A dozen voters assembled here for a focus group on President Trump’s first year give him credit for a good economy and a robust stock market. Having said that, they used the forum to let loose with their condemnation of the tweeter-in-chief and the many ways he has embarrassed them.

It was a tough assessment, and the most stinging critique came from those in the group who had voted for Trump, with Republican women serving up the harshest words, saying he hasn’t delivered on his promises, and he’s crude and bullying.

“I feel like he told people that he had all these big ideas and big plans, and it just seems to kind of roll to something else,” said Emily Bell, a 32-year-old occupational therapist. “It’s like nothing is ever accomplished.”

Annie Anthony, 56, who runs a small nonprofit, said, “He’s embarrassed me by his behavior… I can’t imagine how they let him build a country club, let alone be in one. Because adults don’t behave that way.” She doesn’t mind the tweets but wishes he would elevate his language.

didn't give you a clue that he is an immature bully, cheater and liar? I wish I didn't have to suffer due to their colossal stupidity. She deserves to get what she voted for, the rest of us who have more than a double digit IQ don't.

that the stock market rise primarily benefits the 1%....that may get the largest tax bonanza in history with his tax reform bill.

Will be interesting to hear their opinions after the bubble bursts.

with this tax cut either because they understand supply and demand and that if their customer base is crippled, demand dries up, and they go bankrupt.

40 fucking years we've been fighting trickle down.

Also, a good summary on NY Mag. today with some angles I had not considered:

I suspect the worst effects of this bill would not show for several years though, most likely by design. Americans are the world's best forgetters!

And because he don't use them high-falutin' elite werds and "tawks like us" they got real comfortable-like listening to a moron -- just like them.

And now they're embarrassed. Wait a minute... I think I've still got one of them around here somewhere... oh, here it is:

12. Is there one journalist who will interview Hillary supporters one year after the election?

Here's what I would say:

Donald is an embarrassment, a bully, and a heartless bastard.

Donald colluded with Russia and I'm afraid he and all the other guilty parties will walk away.

I've gained 20 pounds from stress eating since the election.

I've stopped exercising due to depression since the election.

I have trouble sleeping.

I've watched our nation become the laughing stock of the world.

I'm worried about my children's futures.

I'm concerned about Social Security and Medicare.

I have watched the Republican Congress and Donald do everything they can for the rich and for corporations and lie that they're helping, not hurting, Americans.

I knew this would happen. I knew it, knew it, knew it.
