Reports of sexual harassment and abuse perpetrated by prominent people are about to increase dramatically. We're about to experience some serious, long-needed housecleaning.
It's going to affect big names in many sectors of society, government, entertainment, media and more.
I expect many disappointing surprises.
Be ready for many people to have their real natures exposed.

(63,974 posts)have some healthcare issues (more repeals) rolled up in that tax reform scam.
BigmanPigman
(51,672 posts)That is why this is a two-in-one bill. The Moron was able to increase everyone's health insur prices by signing the exec order. He can't do that with the tax scam and that is why we have to hurry up and get our Resisting shoes on and get in full gear now! Here is a link for ways you can do something to delay the vote (that is the goal of MoveOn, Indivisible, Bernie, etc.) and get the word out. We were able to stop the ACA repeal but the fake prez signed that fucking exec order.

(2,541 posts)That is what makes this so devastating and effective. Person X can make this type of accusation against person Y without any proof and in the court of public opinion that is all it takes. A person is guilty until they prove they are innocent which can take years and by then the damage has already been long done. It is the modern worlds version of a scarlet letter.

Don't know if this is all bs or not but they're really pissed about the allegations against Moore and that all the news channels aren't leading with the new Franken accuser and that he hasn't resigned yet. Be prepared.

(2,301 posts)by missing the point and turning this into some sort of grotesque horserace/scorekeeping phenomenon.
What we're not going to get is a thoughtful reflection on the abuse of power and privilege by males in society, but rather a feeding frenzy of allegations that ignores any nuance regarding circumstances and relative severity of offense.
"Well John X, you have harsh words for John Y, whose been accused by several women of physically harassing them when they were in high school, but we've just received photographic evidence that you were in a burlesque performance 15 years ago in which you grabbed another performer's butt... so you really have no moral authority! As always, all sides are equally bad!"

(14,501 posts)is that it interferes with the process of justice, just like Trump's improper tweets after a major crime. It is, however, very unfortunate that many of the incidents that have come to light are beyond the statutes of limitation for prosecution.
Additionally, I do believe many of us males (at least on the left) are having a lot of thoughtful reflections and trying to pass some of the things we've learned to our friends and kids.

(2,301 posts)Perhaps I'm getting a little too concerned about how the media treats it and should have more optimism that people will discuss it with appropriate depth amongst themselves.

(14,501 posts)Just occurred to me that with Repugs having all that voter database info, if they want to dredge up stuff on a Democrat, all they have to do is research people that knew him/her from their younger years, look up their political affiliation and start calling any Repugs on the list. Almost anyone has a little hell raising in their past, so it wouldn't take long to dig up dirt and gossip.

(58,724 posts)Thankful that women are finally being heard.
The only reason that they are flinging mud and shit is to distract the less intelligent so that they will vote to raise taxes on the poor, then they will take away health care, abortion & birth control rights, Medicaid, Medicare, Social Security, public schools & libraries, the right to sue, clean air & water, voting rights, and on and on ad nauseum.
I hope you're happy. All we get out of it is more salacious stories on the news. This certainly isn't going to get anybody elected who will do a better job at protecting ALL rights, including the only one near and dear to single-issue voters.

(7,816 posts)Get rid of every Democrat who ever harassed and elect every rethug is not a good way of going about it. That's exactly what they are trying to do.
I've been harassed until I cried myself to sleep for weeks at a time. It left deep scars on my psyche. Luckily, I'm old enough and bold enough to not put up with that shit any more. I certainly do not want it to happen to anyone else. But what the rethugs are doing is a vicious dirty trick designed to split us apart and to keep government in their hands.
Congratulations for falling for it yet again!

And they want to distract the media from the accusations against Roy Moore and shitgibbon himself.

(92,526 posts)Unless you have been living in a cave, people with political motives LIE.
Forgetting for a moment about the latest allegations of latest Al Franken accuser, let me ask another question instead.
What kind of person indicates they voted for Amy Klobuchar, and "maybe" Al Franken, but also voted for Donald Trump? What kind of LOGIC is that? Klobuchar and Franken have opposite views on EVERYTHING that Trump pushed during his campaign.
It doesn't mean the allegations are false, but it DOESN'T mean they are true either.
It is very hard for me to even conceive of Al Franken at a public fair, taking a photo-OP with someone, where crowds are all over the place, and grabbing her butt cheek in front of her husband. What the hell for? I cannot believe he is trying to "get off" on a 2 minute encounter like that, and while I might understand her not calling Franken out, when she tells her husband what Franken did, I sure as hell do NOT understand why her husband wouldn't.
Is the story true? Maybe. Is it valid to say that someone who voted for Trump might also lie? More than maybe. Turn on Fox News. Look at the activities of James O'Keefe, Dinish DSouza, Ashley Todd:
www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/10/24/mccain-supporter-who-clai_n_137484.html
James O'Keefe is responsible for destroying ACORN, an organization that works with the most vulnerable in our society. What kind of people do that? What kind of people want to take away people's health care, destroy the environment, and fight against every program that attempts to help the most needy and vulnerable in our society?
I am sorry, but I am going to be skeptical on this one, and not take the person's story at face value, because frankly, I believe that a lot people who voted for Trump are not right in the head, and they DO LIE. She has made a serious charge against Al Franken to discredit him, and the fact that she voted for Trump, it is NOT unreasonable to be skeptical.

I want to see sunshine on the payouts from the congressional "keep it quiet fund." Let it out, congress. After all, we have a sexual deviate in the White House. Nothing should hidden from public view any longer.
The fuckers never did appreciate an honest and decent man who occupied our White House from 2009 to 2017. America doesn't deserve decency.

(2,498 posts)I frequently felt that the reason the Democrats didnt push back harder against the G.W. Bush administration is that they knew people in glass houses had best not throw rocks. A purging is what we need, although the timing is bad, to say the least. However, lets be careful of purity. While it may take a Galahad to receive the grail, it only takes Al Franken to slay Jeff Sessions.

From my own experience I can say that what happened to me as a child was more devastating than what happened to me as an adult. I can say that being flashed by a stranger on the street during a school trip was not nearly as devasting as having my favorite teacher refer to me as his girlfriend (he was married and old enough to be my dad) while hugging me too intimately. I can say that some of the off-color jokes and sometimes too touchy interactions with a male co-worker, while making me feel uneasy..did not rise to the same level of ickyness when that same behavior came from my male boss.
This is just the easy stuff to talk about. There were much worse things that have happened. There is no way I would lump all these together and give them the same weight. And in some instances the actual behavior may have been worse but the intent or power balance didn't give it the same impact. In some cases..as with a friend or co-worker, I felt comfortable saying "ok that's too far" and felt that I was heard and respected. Whereas with teachers, professors, adult family friends or relatives, because of my age or relationship to them, I didn't feel like I could say anything.
This is my experience only but this is why I am so angry and disgusted by some here who are so quick to write off anyone for any inappropriate behavior regardless of circumstance.
