"Hughes says he expects his new rocket to hurl him through the skies above the Mojave Desert ghost town of Amboy at up to 500 miles per hour for roughly one mile, attaining a peak altitude of 1,800 feet before it deploys two parachutes. Hughes is a proponent of the Flat Earth theory; the Research Flat Earth group is his main sponsor. Hughes does not believe in science, which he told the AP has no difference from science fiction."
He would need to get almost 20 times higher to see the curvature of Earth. Dumbass apparently doesn't know he could send up a camera for a fraction of what he is spending and prove it for real. Think about it, planes fly every day much higher than 2000 feet, which is 200 feet higher than what he hopes to achieve. How many times have you heard "at our cruising altitude of 30,000 feet" more than 15 times of what this idiot only dreams of attaining?

(66,530 posts)I know about aerodynamics and fluid dynamics and how things move through the air, about the certain size of rocket nozzles, and thrust, he added. But thats not science, thats just a formula. Theres no difference between science and science fiction.
Another dumbass for whom facts do not matter...

(13,485 posts)I can't even comment because I'm laughing so hard. He should try one of those old airplanes that have 7 sets of wings or that spin and pump up and down before they fall apart.

(51,673 posts)I came home and Googled it and every single word that the guy told me we in the article. They really believe this crap and have an answer for everything. The earth is flat, it is surrounded by ice, NASA told all the astronauts to lie. All airplane pilots lie and they use special cameras to distort the flat Earth to make it appear curved on the horizon. Also the sun goes around Earth. OK

(38,353 posts)... and we looked up in the sky and saw that. It was too big and not the right scale to be balloons escaped from a balloon seller.
It wasn't until we heard the story later on the radio news that we understood what we'd seen.
Guy sitting in a lawn chair wasn't one of our speculations.

(101,414 posts)or has just adopted that because they gave him money. He seems to be addicted to publicity and home-made stunts. The AP link from there says he is going to run for governor of California next.
