Here's my theory. Technically, the lawyers for both Flynn, Flynn Jr. and Trump cannot make a deal that would result in an obstruction of justice charge. Flynn, or his lawyers, can't say "If you don't pardon me and my son, Mr. president, I'll spill the beans." By the same token, Trump, or his lawyers, can't say "If you keep your fucking mouth shut, you and your son don't have to worry, the President will grant you a pardon." Both scenarios are blatantly illegal.
However, it is perfectly legal to enter into an agreement for a common defense by Flynn's Lawyers and Trump's lawyers. By ending that agreement, any idiot would know that cooperation is at least a possibility. My interpretation is, by this legal action, that Flynn is essentially telling Trump, "I want that fucking pardon now for anything I may have done at any time in my life, and the same for my son. If I don't get it right now, you're fucked".
That's my interpretation, for what it's worth.

(4,533 posts)Flynn and his son may be at risk for state charges so a Trump pardon may be less valuable than a plea bargain with Mueller which includes leniency from state(s).
But I still think Trump should be voted out rather than perp walked out. We need his voters to accept the legitimacy of his removal from office.

(4,533 posts)I agree, hornets are jerks. But stirring them up is still a bad idea.
We need them to go to sleep, not go insane.

(4,533 posts)Sending Hillary to prison has political appeal to Republicans. Sending Trump to prison has political appeal to Democrats. If we start sending Presidents to prison many people with unconventional ideas will be afraid to run. We should be very very slow to jail our political opponents. It will almost surely lead to harm to democracy.

Only Trump is far more dangerous and will need careful handling.

(48,092 posts)that he will soon if he doesn't get a pardon?
So Mueller must be squeezing Flynn and son hard?
Whether Flynn has already cut a deal or is threatening to do so, neither option is good for Trump?

(17,984 posts)As part of a plea bargain for cooperating. Or even a shorter sentence. They could make it worth his while to squeal. That is if Mueller is working that closely with Schneiderman.
