I read last week that the trump (dis)organization is dissociating itself from its soho property in NYC.
One of his lawyers was quoted as saying this will put a dent in the arguments that he is violating the emoluments issue. You gotta laugh. The dissociating is basically forcing the hotel's owner to buy out the trump contract so that people will start staying at the hotel again. I recall that the hotel in Toronto that wanted out of the association with the soiled name paid $6 million to get out of the contract. If the Soho hotel does anywhere near the same, that sounds like emoluments to me, or something like that.
Also, hotels having to buy out their contracts so that they are no longer soiled by the association with trump sure sounds like a mob-like move. A reverse form of protection payments. Pay us to leave or we'll continue to ruin your reputation.
Back to emoluments - what has the trump organization gained financially - directly - by the buffoon-in-chief staying and playing at his own properties. We know that the Secret Service paid millions to t tower before finding other space. We also know that they've paid tens of thousands for golf carts. How much in total so far?

Now, if someone will put together a Trump Golf Scorecard to see whether he's up to par.

(52,504 posts)So I don't think trump soho relates at all, it being a domestic business.
It's still painfully corrupt, but I don't think it directly relates to the "emoluments" issue.
