That sentence is in the accompanying report from the BBC. But the sentence is incomplete, and misleading.

The Palestinians were fleeing from terrorism committed by Jewish terror gangs such as Stern and Irgun. They were fleeing from massacres committed for the express purpose of eliminating the Palestinian people from Palestine to enable the Jewish settlers to take over the lands and orchards left behind.

They were fleeing from the genocidaires who benefitted from the genocide. If the Palestinians had not been driven from their homeland, there would be no Palestinian refugees.

Thank you for the link

Palestinians are always painted as terrorists, as are Arabs and Muslims generally. So anything that happens is excused.
When there is a reaction it is often apologists for Israel attempting to rewrite history.

If only we knew the history of the Palestinian Mandate territory and what happened from 1946-1948. But all of that history has unfortunately been transformed into the myth of ever innocent and blameless Israel vs. the evil Palestinians and other Arabs.

OK, Ghaddaffi was a bad dude.

BUT, he got rid of his WMDs,
and we had settled with him

..............then........

the US helps remove him from power,
there was no plan for a followup,

and there is now chaos.
lots worse than that,
the chaos and weapons have spread to
Syria, Yemen, and north Africa.
