S.C. Cop Group Bashes ‘Race Agitators’
Source: TDB
South Carolinas Tri-County Fraternal Order of Police has issued a dubious rallying call to its members, even as damning video evidence against one of their own emerges in the shooting death of Walter Scott. Do not allow the professional race agitators to seize this moment to advance their often self-serving opinions of what is wrong in South Carolina. Do not allow them to bemoan the lack of trust of police by the minority community, reads a statement issued by the group Thursday night. The group condemned the shooting, but said that the conversations happening in its wake devalue the work being done by police.

(18,998 posts)It was white agitators that caused the trouble there don't you know...black people were cool with the situation until the agitators came down from up north to cause trouble.
I heard it all before many times.

(7,234 posts)Common sense would tell you that you just SHUT UP AND LET IT GO TO TRIAL!
Anyone with half a brain knows this is not the case you want to rally behind. Not many people from the left (DU) or right (FR) support what this cop did but nooo the police union just couldnt sit by, they have to defend their brother even when he's caught on video executing an unarmed man who is running away.
There is only group agitating and baiting here and it aint protesters.

In "deed" will the police be able to be trusted....again...
As for body cams...everyone should have one..not just the POLICE.....

(31,849 posts)Do not pause to consider WHY there are some many opportunities for the professional race agitators to offer their self-serving opinions or WHY there is a lack of trust of police by the minority community!

(6,241 posts)are the ones that are paying attention to the news every day. They see horrible things commited by the police every day, with little to no accountability. Anyone that trusts the police are people with an agenda, and it's not for the betterment of the community as a whole.
1StrongBlackMan
(31,849 posts)Minoritiies that don't trust the police are NOT paying much attention to the news reports ... One doesn't need the media to report to you, what you see everyday, and have seen for decades. It is, now, the non-minorities that are paying attention. (and that's a good thing).
Also, the vast majority of people that trust the police, don't have an agenda; they just live in a world where they have no reason NOT to trust the police ... the up-scale (non-PoC) suburbanite (i.e., the group that polls as most trusting of L/E), for the most part has no reason not to trust the police; their interaction with the police is, generally, when they need help, or when they, arguably/admittedly, have done something wrong ... and, even in that case, experience has taught them that they are just as likely to get a Warning, as the ticket.

I say take away their (cops) guns, or have them leave their guns in their
cars. They will learn to play nice.
Now if every young black man could have a living wage job, instead of
zero hope, that would make a difference.
How about guaranteed employment for all people leaving jail, as well
as all citizens.
Crime would be next to zero, and we could have the police concentrate
on the real criminals. Wall Street.

(23,179 posts)We aren't devaluing the work of police, they are doing it themselves by being lying, racist, murderers. They should be working to get rid of the bad apples, instead of pushing the totally unproductive blind mindless support of the killers in blue. I'll be glad to quit complaining when unarmed people (other than white males) quit being killed or raped by cops for no reason other than they aren't white males.

(3 posts)We have acceded to the demands of the police state, we have made ourselves targets for the local police by being poor, immigrants, elderly, disabled, any other form of minority, and including homeless and hungry. We have made innumerable attempts to dissuade the police from murdering minorities and the homeless. Yet the continue on their warpath of destruction of our civil rights, claiming that innumerable people attempt to resist arrest, thereby giving the officer legal justification for shooting unarmed civilians.
Now though the S.C. Tri-County Fraternal Order of Police has issued a "rallying cry" to their members to in effect murder those whom they find are "race agitators" and dissidents to society's well being and "good" order. In effect they have issued a "fatwa" for those who are dissidents to their cause of restoring the good order of society. They have clearly stated their goal, to reduce citizens to slaves who are unwilling to "buck the system." Dissent is, under their coming regime is a thing of the past, is gone and the Constitution has been replaced by the buybull as the law giving document.

(28,280 posts)My viewpoint of law enforcement has radically changed in the last few weeks. Being white, middle class and law-abiding, I used to be more than willing to give the police the benefit of a doubt in questionable situations. I still believe that there are plenty of do-right police in this country---but not nearly as many as I once imagined. I feel guilty for my naivete'---and I also feel that every cop in the nation needs to be wearing a monitoring camera, just as soon as possible.
Anybody else have similar feelings, these days?
