Indonesian prosecutors insist murder of US woman in Bali was planned

Source: AP NEWS

BALI, Indonesia (AP) — Prosecutors say they have enough evidence that an American couple on trial in Indonesia deliberately plotted to kill the woman’s mother while vacationing on the resort island of Bali.

Tommy Schaefer and Heather Mack are being tried separately at the Denpasar District Court on charges of premeditated murder.

The badly beaten body of Sheila von Wiese-Mack, 62, was found in a suitcase on a taxi outside a hotel in August.

Chief prosecutor Eddy Arta Wijaya said Thursday that witnesses’ testimonies and the defendants’ text messages show how the couple planned to kill von Wiese-Mack. The prosecutors say Schaefer and Mack should be found guilty and sentenced to 18- and 15-year jail terms respectively.

are incompetent and/or won't charge white foreigners. They also think the police there don't have access to CSI type stuff.

They are usually wrong and pay for it dearly because foreign laws don't have any culprit-protections built-in to get off on technicalities.

Southeast Asian countries, it boggles the mind that many tourists still go there specifically to engage in criminal activity.

If they really disliked her dogdamn just don't talk to her. Maybe there was money involved. Didn't look like much information was available yet. I am curious why they would try to kill her though.

Since it probably wasn't about power, jealousy and fear, that leaves money.
