New Clinton team aims for no-drama operation
Source: MSNBC
On the eve of her expected presidential campaign launch Sunday, Hillary Clintons campaign team-in-waiting met at her brand new Brooklyn headquarters for a final pre-game briefing, where campaign manager-designate Robby Mook distributed a memo outlining the campaigns mission.
The simple one-page memo, obtained by msnbc, lays out the purposes, goals, and guiding principles of Clintons campaign under the heading: We Are Hillary for America. The memo was written by Mook, but included input from a wide range of advisers.
The overriding message: No drama this time.
The memo states that the campaigns purpose is to give every American a path to lasting prosperity. This campaign is not about Hillary Clinton and not about us its about the everyday Americans who are trying to build a better life for themselves and their families, the document reads.

(11,175 posts)From what I've read about that campaign, it violated a majority of the principles set forth in this memo.
The memo could be summarized as: "Let's not repeat the mistakes from last time."
The loss in 2008 is certainly an advantage for Clinton this time. It gives her and her senior advisers some valuable experience in what not to do. Her opponents won't have the benefit of that kind of experience.

(41,832 posts)We Are Hillary for America
Our purpose: To give every family, every small business, and every American a path to lasting prosperity by electing Hillary Clinton the next President of the United States. This campaign is not about Hillary Clinton and not about usits about the everyday Americans who are trying to build a better life for themselves and their families.
Our goal: For Hillary Clinton to earn a winning number of delegates to secure the Democratic nomination and win 270 electoral votes to become the 45th President of the United States.
Our guiding principles:
*We are a team: we are committed to helping each other succeed to deliver on our core purpose.
*We are a diverse, talented family: we work together, empower and respect each other, and have each others backs, especially our volunteers.
*We are disciplined: driven every day by strategy, not tactics or one offs. We know there will be tough days, but we will bounce back and get back to work. We take risks, always measuring with empirical data to establish best practices.
*We are humble: we take nothing for granted, we are never afraid to lose, we always out-compete and fight for every vote we can win. We know this campaign will be won on the ground, in states.
*We know the importance of having fun: we are all here because we want to work hard for a cause we believe in.
* We are open to a diverse range of views: When we disagree, its never personal. Once a decision is made, we execute ittogether.
*We are responsible: we always remember and appreciate the generosity of millions of people who invest their time and resources in Hillary Clinton and in us.
*We are guided by Hillarys bedrock values of hard work, service, fairness, and faith in the American Dream.

Well...that's bound to get voters clamering to vote in 2016 ....although many have Reduced Number of Polling Places, Access to "Early Voting" (because of cut backs in their states) and have to deal with discriminatory "Voting ID" cards they have to deal within order to even be able to vote.

(157 posts)There will be a lot of drama, a LOT of it....
And it'll be of Hillary's making - when she stumbles over and over again.
Just like 2008.
Lessons were not, it appears, learned.

(5,169 posts)As much as some people should have went to jail over the crisis of 2007-2009, I don't think that sets a very good precedent.
What really sucks is that much of the bullshit was legal, even if it was immoral. And the rest? All the testimony, evidence, and education of the jurors is expensive, time consuming, and difficult. Merely saying "He's a banker! Bad bad banker go to jail for being a banker!" is pretty much a non starter.

The campaign is EVERYTHING about the candidate.
Sure, go on to recite a bunch of issues. So WHY is your candidate the best one to tackle those issues?

Then show America how full of crap the right wing GOPTPers really are.
Easy first ad? They are going to take our guns, again. Never happened under Obama, won't happen under HRC.
Start by blowing up the NRA myths and fearmongering!
Then close with a real issue like income inequality.
Louis Gohmert proves that people really do get tired of stupid. (Attack Iran Now?)

(13,877 posts)that the Bush SCOTUS...repeat and rinse...the Republican SCOTUS...plagued us with, it has to start early. We're in new territory here, AFAICS, and it's the donors/the money who will make the decision. Yes, they need the peasants to flock to the voting places, of course, but just like Bush...we didn't know it yet, the fix was already in.
At least our "fix" has a head start on the Republican Clown Car, which dilutes the money, but the Bushes have all they need from Great Grandpappy's old European still.
Let's don't create one of our own. I'm all for an energetic primary. but not only the donors, but "lesser known" candidates will likely be putting in their names as VP candidates.
Again, let me emphasize...the SCOTUS gave us Citizen's United...which made this a game only the rich can play. I hate it and pretty sure most everyone here hates it, so what are we going to do about it? Beat up the candidates who have access to it? Or worse yet, Stack it with another couple of lifetime Reublican lifetime judges. Then, we can send Hillary into retirement to be Grandma.
Reminder: Roe v Wade will be on the docket so fast your head will spin. So women, and those who love them, beware. They've got those wands they like to play doctor with.
