U.S. drone strike accidentally killed 2 hostages

Source: CNN

Washington (CNN) President Barack Obama announced Thursday that a U.S. counterterrorism operation targeting an al Qaeda compound in January accidentally killed two innocent hostages, including one American.

Multiple U.S. officials told CNN the hostages were killed by a U.S. military drone that targeted the al Qaeda compound.

"As president and as Commdander-in-Chief, I take full responsibility for all our counterterrorism operations including the one that inadvertently took the lives of Warren and Giovanni," Obama said Thursday morning, where he apologized on behalf of the U.S. government

Using drones is the coward's way to fight a war. I thought Obama
was better than that. Guess he's no better than Bush.

The rest of your post is irrational gibberish, unless you think Nixon and LBJ were the picture of courage by sending millions of troops into Vietnam while dropping millions of tons of bombs using the old fashioned airplane method.

president himself was a coward. I said that using UNMANNED drones
to kill others is sick, perverted and the coward's way because so many
innocents are murdered in the path of destruction and by "accident."

The only way LBJ and Nixon would have courage is if THEY joined the
military that fought the wars they started.

what do you not consider a coward's way to fight a war. Presumably you think using aircraft is a coward's way. And tanks -- a coward's way. Probably firearms, spears, bows and arrows and catapults also are coward's ways of fighting.

are manned. Drones are controlled by technicians safely
hidden in Florida - or wherever it is these places are.

I'm never sure what that means. I hear people say that all the time. "buck stops here" and all of that, but what do they mean? Does that mean that they will some how suffer some consequence? I don't imagine that Obama plans on personally doing anything. I'm sure he'll order some reviews and such but he won't give up any power, he won't be paying anyone anything, he's not going to adopt someones kids or pay for their house or something. Even if he arranges for compensation, HE won't pay it, we will, the US tax payer.

Mostly what he seems to be saying, and what most people who say this seem to be saying, is that they won't blame anyone else. Well, good, scapegoating doesn't accomplish anything. But at the end of the day what the real conclusion usually becomes in essence is that it becomes NO ONES fault. No one is truly HELD responsible. It is one thing to take responsibility, it is another thing entirely to hold ones self responsible.

Waiting three months isn't very responsive or responsible.
