Union protests casino's health insurance switch

Source: NWI Times

Keith Benman

Ameristar Casino and the union for about 200 employees still remain at odds after more than two years of contract negotiations.

The casino has confirmed it will end the union health insurance plan carried by about 200 union members and, on May 1, implement its own health plan.

The union has been conducting a boycott campaign against the casino over the issue and says it has filed an unfair labor practice over a firing that took place in retaliation for that boycott effort.

"We have a ton of support from the Northwest Indiana community, and people feel this is an out-of-state company that's coming in and taking actions that threaten employees and their families," Unite Here Local 1 spokesman Joe Shansky said.

FULL story at link.

Union workers stand Saturday outside the Ameristar Casino, picketing in protest over how their health care is being handled.

When no one will be able to afford to buy anything?

The 1% and worldwide corporations will continue to grow their fortunes, but this country will be in the toilet

In his great book explains how the right wing majority U.S. Supreme Court should have this laid at there right wing corrupt corporate court and with John Roberts and his band of right wing hypocrites.
For over 150+ years this court has been led with right wing conservatives and on a few occasions by a liberal majority----very few times---- and the voting public should come to this realization and quickly.
