A first: Orioles-White Sox game on Wednesday closed to public

Source: USA oday

With a scheduling quandary at hand and the potential for more unrest in Baltimore, the Orioles and Major League Baseball announced extreme measures:

Playing the first game in major league history in front of no fans, and moving three more games out of the city.

MLB announced on Tuesday afternoon that the Orioles-White Sox game scheduled for Wednesday will be played at 2 p.m. ET at Camden Yards - but the game is closed to the public.

In addition, a weekend series against the Tampa Bay Rays will be moved to Tropicana Field in St. Peterburg, Fla. - although the Orioles will be designated the home team.

two billionaire's enterprises get to play their game. Meanwhile all the "little people" who work there and paid for their seats can go fuck themselves. Postpone, forfeit or get the fuck out of town.

Was listening to baltimore radio and all they went on about was complaining the games were impacted.

A 2pm game would be over by 6pm or so. Curfew wouldn't come into play outside of some kind of extreme extra-innings situation.

It's not as if there'd be trouble inside the stadium-the kids in the streets couldn't afford the damn tickets.

Presumably fans going to and from the game would have to go through some areas that are not safe to be in right now.

I have some connections to the MLB. There have been some pretty serious threats made and that's why they are pulling the audience. Do you really think that the O's want to do this? It will cost them a LOT of money.

What would transpire if the protesters decided to appear at the stadium during the 9th inning and screwed up traffic trying to leave the game? 50,000 loaded fans+thousands of angry protesters=? What could possibly go wrong?

Live radio and television broadcasts...what an immediate way for protesters to get coverage. There's more here than meets the eye. And relocating to a different venue to play home games (especially the dreaded Tropicana Field) is NOT ideal for any baseball team. I suspect the team and managers are not thrilled at all.

It's like when the teachers strike for better pay. Corporate tools all make a point of telling everyone how the children are suffering. The same children they normally ignore when they cut school lunch and after school programs.

This just sounds like a way to get the middle class and upper middle class to put pressure on the protesters. Stop your protests and you will have games again. Now bow down and thank me for the crappy little job you have that keeps you out of debtor's prisons.

Must be a weird feeling for the players, too. There are a handful of fans watching and cheering from outside the metal fence. I can hear sirens in the background.
