Democrat Gregg enters governor's race, hits Pence on RFRA

Source: Indianapolis Star

Democrat John Gregg is running again for governor, this time with a stronger focus on Gov. Mike Pence's social issues, including the recent "religious freedom" debacle.

Gregg told The Indianapolis Star on Thursday that Pence's efforts had given the state a bad name.

"The governor had done what he said he wasn't going to do. I thought he was going to focus on the economy, I thought he was going to focus on creating good paying jobs and improving our education system," Gregg said. "He's focused on nothing but social issues, which was his record in Congress, and those social issues do nothing but divide us."

Gregg's announcement has long been expected and sets up a possible rematch with Pence next November. Gregg narrowly lost to Pence in 2012, but Pence successfully avoided most talk of the hot-button social issues in that campaign that he had championed in Congress.

Reportedly, Democratic State Schools Superintendent Glenda Ritz is also planning to get in.

to get behind our candidate but we don't. However this time around I believe Gregg has a very strong chance of winning
because he will have much stronger support form unions.
Pence has the right to work law (still pending in the courts though) and the Common Wage Law going against him too.

Pence has made it a lot easier to be a Dem in Indiana

They have a better chance this time, I think.

As a fellow Hoosier, it's a been a rough 2 years to be a Democrat at the state level. RFRA, the gutting of Glenda Ritz's authority.... the list goes on.
