18 Hurt After 2 Buses Collide In Lincoln Tunnel

Source: CBS

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — Emergency crews are on the scene after two buses collided inside the Lincoln Tunnel, injuring 18 people.

It happened around 9:45 a.m. inside the center tube of the tunnel. Port Authority spokesman Joe Pentangelo said a NJ TRANSIT bus hit the back of a bus operated by a private company.

The extent of the injuries are unknown, but some have been taken to area hospitals. At least two people were seen being taken out of the tunnel on stretchers. Two others were seen walking out with the help of emergency personnel.

The center tube is closed and traffic is delayed for at least an hour, CBS2’s Jim Smith reported. Traffic has been rerouted to the south tube.
