Reports: Williams to stay at NBC and move to another position

Source: USA Today

NBC News plans to retain newsman Brian Williams as an employee but assign him to another position within the company, according to reports.

NBC could announce the change as soon as Thursday, according to CNN, which first reported the development.

NBC declined to comment. Williams' lawyer, Bob Barnett, couldn't be reached for comment.

Williams is expected to move to a new role primarily at NBC's cable news network, MSNBC, according to The New York Times, which confirmed the report. Lester Holt, who's filled in as the anchor of "NBC Nightly News" while Williams serves his 6-month suspension, will be named to the position permanently, the Times reported.

Trust is essential for the host of the evening news.

Meanwhile, I am very happy for Lester Holt.

It's terrible, I know, but I can't focus on a thing Lester says, because my attention is firmly rooted on that upper lip that appears to be epoxied into place as he talks through his lower teeth.

Now that I've mentioned it to you, you won't be able to "unsee" it.

And I'm happy for Lester Holt. I was certain they'd bring in another white guy.

Never liked him and don't want to see him on the MSNBC line-up. He doesn't fit, IMHO.

I would be so mortified getting caught lying to the public like he did, that I could probably be found living in a grass hut on Bali by now.

... besides, it's only lying to the public, no big deal.

Ask any politician. Christie is from the same state as Williams. Maybe they're buddies.

This is likely the best way to go. You just can't recover from that kind of crashing fall from credibility.

and Lester, both. I wish each good luck with their new positions. Lester deserves the promo. Brian embellished some facts and paid the price of losing the plum job.

Bill O'Reilly and Sean Hannity are laughing their asses off, as "made up news" is their bread and butter.
