Mark Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla Chan are donating $5 million to TheDream.US, a scholarship fund for young undocumented immigrants.
"America was founded as a nation of immigrants," he wrote Wednesday in a Facebook post. "We ought to welcome smart and hardworking young people from every nation, and to help everyone in our society achieve their full potential."
The Facebook CEO has a been a vocal supporter of immigration reform. In 2013, he founded FWD.us, a lobbying group aimed at creating a "pathway to citizenship for 11 million undocumented immigrants." On Wednesday, Zuckerberg explained his latest move.
TheDream.US was founded in 2013 as a scholarship fund for undocumented immigrants who were brought into the United States as children and would have been affected by the Development, Relief, and Education for Alien Minors (DREAM) Act, which failed to pass in Congress in 2010.
