Global raids lead to 600 seizures of wildlife contraband

Source: AP

BANGKOK (AP) — A series of raids conducted across Asia, Africa and Europe has resulted in more than 300 arrests and over 600 seizures of wildlife contraband — from several tons of ivory and rhino horns to thousands of sea horses and whale ribs.

Officials said in a statement Thursday that law enforcement agencies from 62 countries took part in the operation codenamed "COBRA III" along with international organizations such as Interpol and Europol.

It said those arrested in the May 4-27 operation included eight trafficking kingpins identified as three Chinese, four Vietnamese and an Indian.

The seizures included more than 12 tons of elephant ivory and 119 rhino horns from raids across Asia and Africa.

Shoot the elephant or rhino bred at their supported 'wildlife farm' in Namibia. It's legal to bring back your trophy and then sell it at the Texas taxidermy auctions.

Make the damn trophy head imports illegal!!

And, for those who might plead sympathy for the taxidermists who have been deprived
of their "work" by the raids, may I suggest some replacements:
