FBI investigating a series of arsons at black churches
Source: BBC
Last week six fires hit black churches in Florida, Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina and Tennessee.
Three have been ruled arsons and the others are still under investigation.
"They're being investigated to determine who is responsible and what motives are behind them," FBI spokesman Paul Bresson told BuzzFeed News.
No one has been hurt in the fires, but many of the churches were completely destroyed.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is also assisting local authorities in the arson investigations.

White privilege is even more a thing in the American media than the general public.

(4,713 posts)authorities were involved & didn't think they were hate crimes. As a minority I am well aware of the lovely whitewashing the media does whenever a minority is involved, unless they are the accused of course.

Another one may not have been arson:
Cathey said he believes the fire probably started on or near the roof and that lightning may be to blame. The neighbor said that there was lightning strikes in the area, he said. A couple of them rocked the ground about 30 minutes before we were paged.
