Jim Webb says he値l share his decision on a presidential run in few days

Source: Washington Post

Former U.S. senator Jim Webb will decide in the next few days whether he is running for president, he said Tuesday at a presidential forum in Baltimore.

Webb, who represented Virginia for a single term in the Senate, told the National Sheriffs’ Association that he expected to be “very busy over the next week” and later clarified to reporters that he would announce his plans “within the next few days.”

His discussion with the organization showed both the appeal and the limitations of a Webb candidacy.

Unless he has a massive ego I haven't seen before, he'll decide it's not worth fighting with O'Malley and Chafee for the crumbs left behind by Clinton and Sanders.

I find his intensity a little unnerving.

also re: the Confederate battle flag.

He said...

"This is an emotional time and we all need to think through these issues with a care that recognizes the need for change but also respects the complicated history of the Civil War,” “This is a time for us to come together, and to recognize once more that our complex multicultural society is founded on the principle of mutual respect.”

With this recent kerfuffle, he decided it was politically expedient to waffle and hedge his words on the matter.

8. Webb is an interesting character, and very bright. He'd be a good foil onstage for Hillary & Bernie

It will be interesting to see what kind of traction he gets, and where, and overall what he has to say -- especially since he is so closely identified with the Scotch-Irish of the South.
