Hillary Clinton: 'People should and do trust me'
Source: CNN
Iowa City, Iowa (CNN)In Hillary Clinton's first national interview of the 2016 race, she attacked her Republican rivals on immigration and dismissed the suggestion that the American people have a problem trusting her.
"People should and do trust me," she told CNN's Brianna Keilar.
She blamed the "barrage of attacks that are largely fomented by and coming from the right" for fueling a perception that trust is an area of vulnerability for her.
Clinton displayed little hesitation about attacking Republicans herself, saying that she is "very disappointed" in Donald Trump for his comments about immigrants and in the Republican Party for not condemning his remarks more quickly.
She then pivoted to skewering the entire GOP field for their immigration stance, saying, "They're on a spectrum of hostility, which I think is really regrettable in a nation of immigrants like ours."

(59,511 posts)In 2002, as a NJ voter with the Senate up in the air, the Democrat Torecelli was pretty dishonest. I have to admit, that troubled for me but I knew I would vote for him
I never bothered to investigate enough to see if the RW republican was honest.
That is why the primaries are important. If we select someone we know is not honest, we can be stuck defending him or her for decades. For instance, imagine we did not elect Bill Clinton in 1992, nominating Tsongus or Brown. We KNEW that Clinton would lie straightfaced on anything that was negative - whether Genefer or the draft. ANY Democrat would have won against a President at 39 percent. Both were more progressive and likely better people.
Hillary and trust just don't go together.

(5,668 posts)Think she managed to solidify herself as super Conservative nevermind the Bomb Iran gaff.. nothing new here. she's still to the right of Mittens. Scared shitless of her being president. yikes. and they said Howard Dean was mad hey it was a pep rally sheesh. if you annoy your base this much and call them right wing that won't go over well.
she is pro choice, Mitt at best multiple choice. she supports ENDA and gays serving openly in the military, Romney was opposed to both. She favored the ACA, Romney opposed. She favors increased taxes on the rich, Romney opposed. I could go on and on and on and on and on and on and on some more if necessary.

bush and cheney, "trust us, this war will end quickly."
When somebody tells me to trust them, I'm very leery about that person. They have to show me they're trustworthy and not tell me to trust them.
Obama even said to trust him with the secretive TPP but wouldn't show the text involved. Why should I trust him, just because he said so, no way.

(9,148 posts)Hillary says the damn truth about the RW good ol boy club.
She goes aftet the bigots of the RW directly.
She doesn't bother with attacking her primary competition because she knows who the enemy really is and who really deserves to be called out on points that actually matter in the reality of American people, not the petty nit picking demeaning quips of the RW online media trolls.
The 2016 MPOTUS has more trust & class & smarts than any fist pounding candidate in the field.

(9,148 posts)I believe Hillary did a perfect job of sticking the Trump & fellow GOP disdain for immigration in this country back in their faces.
This is Hillary Clinton's FOCUS.
Pretty sick that you all missed that part.
That the GOP anti-immigration is not that big a deal for the likes of some here tells me you really don't give a shit beyond your usual mantra of all things against Hillary.
Sad bunch. And you call yourselves Dems?
The RW anti-immigration hate fest needs to be spoken against loudly.
Sorry you think its a non issue.
I trust Hillary far more for saying what needed to be said as the GOP spouts out all over the news how disgusting the immigrants are.
My trust for Hillary Clinton grew stronger for addressing this critical issue.
Thanks anyway.

Clinton supporters don't have anything concrete on which to support her on. They just want a "winner" and when they see Bernie climbing the polls and ready to surpass her after the first debate, the bandwagon can and will abandon Clinton because they do see Bernie a winner, and have a reason why. Clinton doesn't really offer me a reason to vote for her, while Bernie offers me plenty.

(8,812 posts)So you're suggesting that by legitimately questioning the traditional, highly misleading unemployment statistics that Bernie is specifically slamming the President and with him all African Americans? Interesting!
And even if your logical leap over a gap as wide as the Grand Canyon were true, are you suggesting that simply because Bernie allegedly isn't trusted on Black Twitter that means Hillary is? They aren't yin and yang, you know.

(5,811 posts)change the fact Bernie called PBO a liar, tried to trivialize Black lives Matter as a phrase and misappropriated PBO's legacy. I am not an HRC supporter. HRC has had her challenges with the AA community BUT HRC had a lot of AA support when PBO ran in 2008. HRC is family. PBO won and now most of that support is going to HRC. She is a democrat. She did not decide to run as a dem because she thought her chances would be better. She ran as a Dem because she is a dem. in all of Bernie's truthtelling, he needs to explain why he is running as a Dem when he is not. i trust HRC way more than Bernie. As a matter of fact, I don't trust Bernie at all.
