NBC’s ‘Meet the Press’ Brings Back ‘Racist’ Pat Buchanan, Twitter Goes Nuts
Source: The Wrap
NBCs Meet the Press reserved a seat at the table Sunday for conservative commentator Pat Buchanan, much to the chagrin of social media users.
Buchanan, 76, previously worked as a commentator on MSNBC. But the cable network dropped him in 2012 amid fallout over his book Suicide of a Superpower, which claimed diversity and immigration were ruining the country. Buchanan has also previously drawn fire for defending Adolf Hitler, and complaining that homosexual sex is unnatural and immoral.
A former adviser to Presidents Richard Nixon, Gerald Ford and Ronald Reagan, Buchanan ran for president himself in 1992, 1996 and in 2000.
On Sunday, he joined MTP moderator Chuck Todd to discuss the return of populism in the 2016 presidential race, along with similarities between his 92 bid and Donald Trumps current campaign.

Invited by the same Chuck Todd ( https://twitter.com/chucktodd) who is replacing Ed Schultz on MSNBC.
Combine this with the Trump gush-fest on Morning Joe Friday, in which reporters couldn't stop cooing about how "honored" they were to speak to the Birther King (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/donald-trump-thin-skin_55b271efe4b0224d88321543), and you can just how "lib'rul" NBC News is.
And let's not forget that Pat's 1996 pseudo-populist campaign imploded after it was revealed that he was staffing it with white nationalists like Larry Pratt, who were on record defending Tim McVeigh's murder of innocents in Oklahoma (http://www.rightwingwatch.org/content/larry-pratt-and-radical-right).
If this is the sort of thing we can expect from the network's switch to "hard news," then they shouldn't be surprised when their ratings shrivel up further.

(39,215 posts)replacing Ed Schultz with the toad and his racist friends for what they call hard news. Toad is not Walter Cronkite and never will be. Tell them to leave the liberal programs alone and bring back Keith.
MSNBC and their rulers NBC have already pushed the liberal news programs into having conservative guests on every program so they can spout their crap and lies right in our faces. Enough - we need to do what we do best on DU - join together and make this protest heard.

(15,805 posts)This isn't an isolated incidence. Last month, right after the Charleston church massacre where a white guy killed 8 black people, Todd decided to air a segment on Meet the Press that featured black convicted murderers in prison discussing their own acts of gun violence.
There was a massive backlash against MSNBC then, bit apparently they learned nothing and today, in an offensive example of a tone deaf media, Todd doubled down by airing crazy Pat Buchanan's anti-immigration, racist rhetoric... and MSNBC is giving him even more air time?

Racism, bigotry and abject stupidity seem to be ok with MSNBC. But voicing "radical" commentaries against the Right, corrupt politicians and corporations are not!

There is no excuse for allowing that old fascist any sort of national TV platform at this point. Just further evidence of what an incompetent disaster Chuck Todd is.
