Demonstrators heckle Bilderberg attendees

Source: The Washington Times

By Ben Wolfgang-The Washington Times Thursday, May 31, 2012

International power brokers arriving in Chantilly for the 2012 Bilderberg conference were treated to a rude welcome by a raucous crowd of about 200 demonstrators Thursday afternoon.

As black limousines and SUVs pulled into the secluded Westfields Marriott hotel, the site of this year’s annual meeting of the world’s richest and most influential, the protesters, many of whom wielded megaphones, shouted them down.

Even hotel employees weren’t immune.

“Don’t serve these criminals,” one man shouted as members of the wait staff drove onto the hotel grounds.

The Bilderberg gathering, given its name after the first meeting at the Netherlands' Bilderberg hotel in 1954, is viewed in conspiracy lore as the central planning session for an eventual one-world government. The European debt crisis is rumored to be at the top of this year’s Bilderberg agenda, but, among members of the crowd, opinions differed about what was being discussed inside.

Chantilly Laced: Holding Bilderberg and the Transnational Policy Elite to Account
Posted: 05/31/2012 12:38 pm

If reports are to be believed, the great and the good of the Atlantic policy community are once again gathered for the annual Bilderberg conference. The town of Chantilly, Va. -- a stone's throw from Washington, D.C. -- is playing host to the event ensuring, in the middle of a U.S. presidential campaign, the attendance of key members of the U.S. business, political and financial elite. Not that Bilderberg organizers will be unduly concerned about the prospect of "no shows" -- the allure of the conference, even for the most powerful of people, is as irresistible as it ever was.

This Bilderberg gathering, however, comes at a particularly bad time for the transnational power elite. Not only is their enlightened liberal internationalist project unraveling before their very eyes but, to add insult to injury, they now have to parade around in conference-themed jackets to convince increasing numbers of protestors and journalists of how thoroughly decent, collegial and transparent they're being. In an interview on the UK's Channel 4, "The Secret Rulers of the World: The Bilderberg Group," the former Secretary General of Bilderberg, Martin Taylor, once observed that "one of the most frightening things [...] if you're anywhere near people who are in charge of governments or large businesses, is how they too are like 'corks bobbing around on the stream' of what's carrying on." The bizarre spectacle last year of attendees traipsing uncomfortably across the Swiss countryside -- in full view of media lenses -- may have been an attempt to demystify the event but, in terms of convincing people that our elites are capable, assured, and in control, it was nothing short of a PR calamity.

For a little over 50 years, an elite organization has met all around the world in total secrecy with nearly zero press coverage. On Thursday, the annual Bilderberg Conference will take place in Chantilly, Virginia where the world's leaders are believed to make decisions that could possibly have an effect on the world. Abby Martin looks closer at Bilderberg's global policies for a new world order as RT readies to cover this year's event later this week.

But pretend it isn't true or real. Whatever.

That does not mean that anyone wants to deny reality. There's no need to get so upset.

IMHO, it's great that there were protesters there...maybe you could use a different source.

Thanks.

did not read:

You'd rather not know at all too I guess than to read the story from the Moonie Times.

Thanks

Bilderberg 2012: the technocrats are rising at this year's annual conference. Our man at Bilderberg is back for a fourth year and has touched down in Chantilly for the 2012 gathering. The shadowy elite leaders' conference starts tomorrow, so what's on the agenda?

He droned on for the full length of a crab salad about his "internal and external drivers", about how "I got a panel of three-star admirals together" to secure a "$30m contract" and how "CACI excels in capture management".

He talked fondly of CACI International Inc (a giant defense contractor), although more recently he's had "a nice success rate with Booz Allen" (another giant defense contractor). His world was the deathly dull blur between the federal government and private defense corporations. The grim feeding trough of "systems solutions", "security logistics" and "mission assurance". My crab ended just as he was declaring, wisely: "When you leave the navy and you go to a contractor, you say: what's my mission?"

His mission for the next week or so is to keep the queen of the Netherlands, the chairman of Barclays, and the chairman, vice-chairman and CEO of Shell Oil safe and sound for a three-day conference. The hotel is encircled by the offices of the world's largest arms' manufacturers, 15 minutes up the road from the headquarters of the CIA. I suspect they'll be OK.

The Bilderberg conference was last here in Chantilly, at the exact same godforsaken spot, back in 2008 – which, like 2012, was a US election year, and the moment the current economic woes really started hitting the fan. You might remember, it was the year when then-senators Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton paid a flying visit to Bilderberg (aka 'an event in northern Virginia'), after shaking off the press pack during the Democratic presidential campaign. AP had the story:

Go back and re-read my post.

I asked a question which you have not answered.

Why do you want to drive traffic to the Moonie Times by linking to it here?

I made no judgment whatsoever as to its acceptability here as a legitimate source.

If you want to post right-wing crapfests as a source, be my guest.

Give me a break!!! I am appalled that DU accepts the moonie times and the RT as credible sources. In times like these, people should be more careful with what they're passing off as legit. WHO, pray tell, was at this meeting? I heard that Oprah was a member of Bilderberg. I'm shaking in my boots at such evildoers as Oprah Winfrey. pfffttt!
