Cameron braces for Murdoch storm at UK media probe
By Mohammed Abbas
LONDON | Wed Jun 13, 2012 6:33pm EDT

(Reuters) - British Prime Minister David Cameron will face questions at a judicial inquiry on Thursday about accusations his government tailored policy to pamper media mogul Rupert Murdoch's business interests.

Cameron's once cozy ties with Murdoch's minions mean he is under pressure to pull off a virtuoso performance before an inquiry which has sharpened the perception Britain has been run for years by an elite that fawned on the News Corp chairman.

The probe into Britain's media and its relationship with politicians has dominated headlines just as the prime minister struggles with an economy in recession and growing unease about his leadership within his own party.

"It (the cross-examination at the inquiry) could add to the impression the public may have of his being out of touch and more obsessed with hob-nobbing with wealthy, powerful people," said Charlie Beckett, founding director of the Polis thinktank at the London School of Economics.

Notice the silence on this side of the pond? Deafening isn't it? If you have been paying attention to the scandal, from Margaret Thatcher to David Cameron, Murdoch has been the proverbial skunk at the garden party. He has been the ruthless puppeteer behind 5 Prime Ministers.

If you caught any of John Major's testimony, Murdoch made his administration a living Hell, mainly, because of his support of the European Union. He went as far as targeting Major's children. But it was David Cameron that let the devil in the house. When he hired Andy Coulson, Murdoch's unsavory editor of News Of The World, for Press Secretary, checkmate. Now Murdoch had one of his minions in the Prime Minister's office. He could bring down the BBC, take full control of B Sky B, and turn it in to a version of Fox News. But the British are fortunate. Though he devastated the British press, he did not completely destroy it. That he did to the American press. With the help of Bill Clinton, the Republican congress, and the 1996 Telecommunications Act, he obliterated American journalism. In Britain, he tried to do the exact same thing with Tony Blair, and the Broadcasting Act of 1996. The man got two powerful nations-that he was not born in- to dismantle media rules that protected its citizens. Perhaps he had the goods on them. They say he has pictures of everybody. There are allegations that David Cameron used cocaine while a member of parliament. Could there be pictures? We'll see who gets thrown under the Murdoch bus.

In the meantime, Murdoch is using his media to viciously attack Eric Holder. Is it for his other criminal enterprise, the Republican Party, or is he trying to disrupt an investigation?

Under the terms of the deal Sky News would have ceased to part of BSkyB - the deal was conditional on that. Sky was to be floated as a completely separate entity and BskyB would have had no news channel. As such I don't understand the Fox comparison in this instance.

Wanting complete control of B Sky B was not the only demand Murdoch made of the Cameron government. To complete the Fox News transformation , he would have to get rid of regulations. OfCom, (Office of Communications) is the British version of the FCC. Unlike our FCC, apparently OfCom had a few teeth. It's what stood in Murdoch's way of creating a Fox News Station in Britain. For Murdoch's support, Cameron would dismantle OfCom. He would also cripple Murdoch's rival, the BBC, by cutting government funds.

5. We blundered on Murdoch bid, PM will tell Leveson
Thu Jun 14, 2012, 04:17 AM
Jun 2012

David Cameron will today admit that the Government’s handling of Rupert Murdoch’s bid for BSkyB was deeply flawed as he announces plans to tighten the rules on how such deals are handled.

The Prime Minister will tell the Leveson inquiry into Press standards that he plans to overhaul the way decisions are made after Vince Cable and Jeremy Hunt were both accused of bias during the affair.

He will also announce a crackdown on the behaviour of special advisers, after the resignation of Mr Hunt’s aide Adam Smith for passing privileged information to the Murdochs during the takeover bid.

>

In a letter to Sir Alex Allan, the guardian of the Ministerial Code of Conduct, Mr Cameron revealed yesterday that he ‘will be outlining to Leveson’ several ‘areas where I am proposing future changes to the current guidance’.

7. Nation adjusts brightness on TV as David Cameron’s forehead appears at Leveson Inquiry
Thu Jun 14, 2012, 09:02 AM
Jun 2012

People that have tuned in to watch the Leveson Inquiry have been forced to spend the entire time adjusting the brightness on their TVs after David Cameron’s huge Shiny forehead came under questioning.

There was a short delay in proceedings as those gathered at the inquiry were given sunglasses to avoid any damage to their retinas from the intense glow emanating from below Mr Cameron’s hairline.

The Prime Minister’s forehead, which has its own controlled airspace, is capable of producing light of such intensity that if he ventures out after dark he is immediately surrounded by moths.

The watching public have spoken of their frustration at spending the duration of the morning’s questioning fiddling with the brightness control on their TV sets.

Anything could happen between now and then. Quite possible that Labour could win again and thus inherit the shit which the Conservatives & LDs inherited from New Labour...............In reality they're all as bad as each other.
