White House Watch White House Watch: Trump 42%, Clinton 40%
Source: Rasmussen Report
The presidential race has grown a bit tighter in this weeks White House Watch survey.
The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey of Likely U.S. Voters finds Donald Trump with 42% of the vote, while Hillary Clinton earns 40%. Thirteen percent (13%) still like another candidate, and five percent (5%) are undecided. (To see survey question wording, click here.)
This survey was taken Tuesday evening following FBI Director James Comey's announcement that his agency would not seek any indictments of Clinton despite her "extremely careless" handling of classified information while serving as secretary of State. Most voters disagree with Comeys decision.

Same right wing poll had don the con ahead by 4 last week.

(17,516 posts)and you will see Rasmussen leans Republican.

I am much more interested in individual state polls especially in close states. Unfortunately there aren't enough of them yet for me to be satisfied.
leftynyc
(26,060 posts)also has them leaning right (which is obvious to anyone paying attention to these things). This same poll was posted over a dozen times last week so I'm not sure why so many want to ignore it this week.
Yonnie3
(17,516 posts)I don't understand your comment about ignoring it this week. I don't look at the national polls much. Your post quotes "This survey was taken Tuesday evening following FBI Director James Comey's announcement ... ," so I don't understand the your comment "This same poll was posted over a dozen times last week". Can you enlighten me?
leftynyc
(26,060 posts)(for the last 5 or 6 weeks now). That's what I meant about it being posted a dozen times (at least) last week (Thursday). The wringing of hands last week over don the con's 4 point lead was ridiculous and now that it's tightening, many want to ignore it.
Yonnie3
(17,516 posts)Yeah, there have been a lot of concern posts the last few weeks.
So here's my concern post:
I am concerned that two out of five folks say they will vote for this (pick one of over a hundred negative adjectives) t'RUMP. It scares me that my country has so many uninformed voters or just plain old nasty people voting. I hope the reason is that they are uninformed and they will see the light before November.
leftynyc
(26,060 posts)Don the con is going to get 40% - that's a given. But in looking at all the polls, that does seem to be his ceiling.
Yonnie3
(17,516 posts)McCain/Palin got 46% and Romney/Ryan got 47% of the popular vote. This makes 'Rump's 40% seem pitiful.

(26,060 posts)to elicit yawns from me. The information is out there - you don't want to see it, trash the thread. I put right in the OP that it's a right wing organization - it's not like I was hiding it so let's not pretend otherwise.

(26,060 posts)The same exact poll was posted a dozen times last week when donnie was ahead by 4 - that it has tightened in the last week seemed to me to be important since the dozen threads last week had many posts on them. THAT'S why I posted it. That's the last time I'm going to explain myself to you on any issue. You got a problem with rass being posted on DU, scroll on by and stop whining.

(4,159 posts)an ABC/Washington Post Poll in mid-May. Rasumussen uses 'likely' voters while most of the others are using registered voters. At this point, Rasmussen's best guess about who the likely voters will be is probably based on the 2014 mid-term polling model which definitely skewed more Republican. I actually think Trump is in worse shape than his polls show because his organization on the ground in key states is virtually non-existent; this will depress Republican turnout compared to expectations if he doesn't make radical improvements.

(26,060 posts)troll as you're going to find. The very first line in the article talks about the race tightening - that's because it had don the con up 4 last week. I guess it was too much expecting people to actually read the story before going ALL CAPS on my ass.
