Gingrich Now Acknowledges It'd Be 'Impossible' To Deport US Muslims

In a Facebook live broadcast, Gingrich touched on the backlash his initial comments received and said that the news media took them out of context.
"A great deal of the coverage of what I said on Fox last night has been distorted," Gingrich said. "The news media went into a hysteria overnight trying to over-exaggerate what I was saying. This is not about targeting a religion."
"This is about looking for certain characteristics that painfully, we have learned time after time, involve killing people," he elaborated. But he seemed to take a different tack while discussing how to deal with a pattern of terrorist activity from American citizens, saying that it would be "impossible" to deport them.
With an American citizen, deportation is impossible," he said. "Its not appropriate under the Constitution and there, historically weve always said, if you fought against the United States, that the correct answer were basically jail as opposed to deportation. I think we have to talk through what should be the right way of handling people who are here, but are not citizens."

(1,307 posts)He says this crap to rile up the Trump-rabble and the bigots in his party.
It's a political cock-tease, and he is very skilled at doing this sort of BS
like most fascist demagogues (Ted Cruz, Donny Trump, et al.)
When he gets called on it, he couches his statements... until next time.

And can we do that for his white christian brothers and sisters too? It would be nice to sweep up the Timothy Geithn...I mean McVeighs (I get my killers mixed up sometimes) of the world before they blew up a Federal building and the nursery that was by the front door.

(81,612 posts)I'm glad Trump didn't pick him. He'd have been awful, pompous, disrespectful, and insulting toward Hillary. This way, he can yowl all he wants but he doesn't have the weight to throw around, and anything he says will carry far less clout. The press will have to cover the running mate of whoever the candidates are. They won't have to cover the guy who didn't get picked. Nobody bothers with him. Newt just got picked for the Most Likely to be Overlooked and Irrelevant.
He doesn't even have a job holding Trump's coat for him like chris christie may still have. Although christie's vanity and ego may not allow him to stay put much longer. After all, we do have a track record of christie being vindictive, don't we!

Never mind the evil of his "solution" to the perceived problem.
