Can you imagine being sealed into a container on a ship for a trans-oceanic voyage? If true, this would be like living in Hell. Ignoring the fact of just having breathing space -- meaning enough oxygen -- how about food and sanitary issues?

Maybe they could learn from the Apollo astronauts who lived in basically two phone booths for a couple weeks.

Sometimes I am horrified at what people can endure.

so far so good as I haven't seen anyone come out of the container.

As an aside, when they were closing the two Canadian Forces Bases in Germany in the early 90's, they loaded helicopters and parts into sea containers and trucked them North for shipment from (I think) Bremerhaven. Before they were loaded on the ship, Traffic Techs went to verify the containers were still sealed. Finding a seal cracked they opened it up to find a dozen or so Romanians inside. They had been there for at least a couple of weeks and had consumed all of their food and water. They would have been dead before they made it to Canada had the container actually been loaded without the final check. Someone sealed them in and essentially left them to die.

A Port Authority official also said, “We are now considering this to be a possible false alarm.”
