Sealant and resin manufacturer Momentive Performance Materials has made a "final" offer to its 745 union employees as the company seeks to end two months of contract negotiations.
The Waterford, New York, company is the fourth largest manufacturer in the Albany region with 1,000 employees who make silicone materials used in electronics, construction and a wide range of auto parts from ignition cables and powertrain seals to door panels and car wax.
Momentive began negotiating in early June with the 700 members of the IUE CWA Local 81359 union who work in Waterford and 45 union members who work at a Momentive plant in Willoughby, Ohio.
Negotiations come as the union's contract approved in 2013 is set to expire.
