Trumps Independence Day Tweet Features Baptist Choir Singing MAGA Just for Him
Source: Time
On President Donald Trumps first Independence Day as president he tweeted out a song written just for him, one that celebrates his administration.
Last weekend the First Baptist Church in Dallas performed a new song penned in honor of the president at the Celebrate Freedom Rally at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.
The piece is titled: Make America Great Again.
It is intended to be sung by Evangelical church choirs and is primarily a refrain of its title. But it also features the lyric lift the torch of freedom all across the land / Step into the future joining hand in hand.

(7,540 posts)Messy clattery orchestra arrangement. Sounds like the intro to every CBN, PTL, 700-Club chat show. If you have a choir, why have them sing in unison? If your choir is singing in unison, why is the sound so sloppy? Cutoffs please? Dynamics please? Please rehearse your choir how to sing in unison. Ten seconds of that will do. Next!
Oh, and I'm not ear-trained, but that descending bass line sounds like C-Major to me. All white keys. BORING.

(18,124 posts)everything related to fairly and successfully administering his charge, given him by a minority vote of americans, the country called the United States of America. Period. And yes Caligula. Any man that can walk into the beauty pageant dressing room of teenage girls, for what reason who knows, talk openly about what he was able to do to women by being a celebrity and the question about his sexual proclivities while in Russia leads one to certain conclusions. Period.

(50,608 posts)TomCADem claimed that Trump's narcissism was "about" to surpass Caligula's. I feel it already HAS done that.
If you look close at Caligula's record, you see there were two parts to his reign.
The first few years Caligula was in office, he did some good things for the people...among them building very good aqueducts and improving Rome's ability to import grain by improving some of Rome's major ports.
Then someone attempted to assassinate him, and he turned into a tyrant.
Trump decided to skip the warm and fuzzy parts of Caligula's reign and go straight to tyranny.

(5,376 posts)My Mother's family attended Dallas First Baptist when she was young. Good Calvinist "christians" all, they were. I'm guessing they'd have loved this song, just as they'd have loved tRump. Makes me sick to say that. Took awhile, but I've now disavowed "christianity" and I'm an atheist. Just couldn't figure out why the god I'd believed in for most of my life would put up with this crap out of his so-called followers. Now understand it's because he doesn't exist.
I repeat: Shame on Jeffress and that whole crowd.
Peace.

(951 posts)What's with all the "freedom" bullshit?
Why is everything 'american' tied into that word?
How exactly are americans 'free'?
What does that even mean?
Anyone?
Seems like a lazy buzzword for the anti-intellectuals to glom onto..."we're american , we have freedom!"
WTF?
I would love to ask a right-winger this question:
"What does 'freedom' mean in the context of comparing 2 or more countries?"
If their answer is "well, ask that in china or saudia-arabia!", my retort would be "if these countries are so awful, why does america do business and arms dealings with them?"
Then watch their heads spin.
