The wife of a lawyer tasked with monitoring ethics in President Donald Trumps business trust was arrested Tuesday afternoon after suspicious activity with a Virginia inmate in the backseat of a car outside a jail.
Teresa Jo Burchfield, 53, was outside Virginias Fauquier County Adult Detention Center when deputies charged her with a crime of her own. Burchfield and an unnamed 23-year-old inmate were spotted in the backseat of a car, along with a bag of pills and other contraband items that Burchfield had allegedly given the inmate. Burchfields husband, Bobby Burchfield, is an ethics advisor to the Donald J. Trump Revocable Trust, an entity intended to keep Trumps business and political ties separate.
The defendant was caught in the backseat of her vehicle with an inmate," according to a criminal complaint obtained by the Fauquier Times. "When the inmate exited the vehicle, he handed me a bag of brown pills (capsules), that he claims to be workout pills."
The inmate, who told police he and Burchfield had been having sex, also had other contraband items on his person, including cigarettes and vitamin supplements, according to the complaint. The inmate told investigators that he and Burchfield had been meeting for a month.

(19,205 posts)There's a bunch of Republican women that are going to have to have sex with future inmates very soon. Their husbands.
That's if Mueller is thorough with his investigation. I can think of about a dozen Republican husbands who might be spending some time in prison. At least I hope they do!

(4,533 posts)Her daughter is in college. She can divorce hubby, get millions, find interesting work, hook up with the boyfriend when he is released from his minor sentence, and live happily ever after.
She can sell the lifetime movie rights.
This may be a blessing in the end. I certainly hope so.

(53,978 posts)Close to nil and none, I'd say. Hubby, a somewhat powerful guy, being in the trump admin, is just going to willingly fork over millions in a divorce proceeding to a wife caught red-handed being unfaithful with a convict in the back seat of a car?
Not likely.
Did you leave off the sarcasm gif on your OP?

If you live apart for 2 years you can divorce in Virginia, even if your spouse objects. And why would her husband object?
Does he really want his own fidelity explored? The odds a high powered lawyer has cheated have to be at least 80%. Since he is fairly attractive make it 90%.
I am optimistic for her.

And why would he drag it out?
She's attractive, smart, successful, accomplished. A doctor's certificate that she's free of STDs and she can cruise her country club and snag someone else's dissatisfied husband in no time.

53 year old Republican women need love too, apparently.
