Sen. Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.) on Sunday dismissed the notion that Democrats are applying a double standard in their responses to allegations of sexual assault against former President Bill Clinton and the recent allegations that Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore (R) had a sexual encounter with an underage woman.
"I dont think there is any double standard here," Van Hollen said on "Fox News Sunday."
"You're also talking in this case, you know, about allegations of child sexual abuse. We know what the allegations are. The people of Alabama will have to look at the facts, search their conscience, and make a decision," he continued. Host Chris Wallace pointed out that Democrats elected Clinton as president even after allegations of sexual assault and harassment were made against him.
He also added that there is a strong likelihood Clinton lied about having an sexual relationship with his former intern Monica Lewinsky as president.

Top Dem calls on Trump to speak out about Moore
BY MALLORY SHELBOURNE - 11/12/17 10:15 AM EST
Senate Minority Whip Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) in a Sunday show interview called on President Trump to speak out about the allegations levied against Alabama Republican Senate nominee Roy Moore.
President Trump is the leader of the Republican Party in America, Durbin told CNNs State of the Union.
Durbin argued Trump has a responsibility to say more and do more, noting other members of the GOP who have called on Moore to step aside from the Senate race if the allegations prove true. Its time for the president to do the same, Durbin said.
Moore has denied that he had sexual contact with a 14-year-old girl in 1979 when he was 32. The allegation was reported by The Washington Post, which also spoke to three other women who said Moore attempted to court them during the same time period, when they were between 16 and 18 years old.

I hate it, as do most Democrats. I've taken at times to referring to the other party as the "republic party".

This was after he'd been re-elected, correct?
How did Republicans react to allegations against Clarence Thomas?

(183,043 posts)She did. I left that out of my response because I didn't want to sound like I was blaming just her. I don't think you are either.
Literally Fox News has nothing except ".....but Clinton!!!"

(21,724 posts)She was definitely the one pursuing him. Was mad at Clinton at the time, because he knew better, it was a dumb thing to do. But I don't think a 14 year old would would have the same savvy or desire.

(19,205 posts)nearly 20 years ago has fuck all to do with Roy Moore's fitness to be a Senator! Clinton's "impeachable offense" was investigated thoroughly (to the tune of $60 million or so) and the Republicans "impeached" him, in what turned out to be much ado about nothing. Oh, and Clinton/Lewinsky was consensual, but still unethical. Moore is a sexual predator preying on underage girls.
Chris Wallace should be drawn and quartered for attempting to draw an equivalency between the two.
