Dem senator on recent election wins: Voters were motivated after GOP tried to take away their health

Source: The Hill

Sen. Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.) on Sunday said voters across the United States were motivated to elect Democratic candidates in elections on Tuesday after President Trump and Republicans tried to repeal and replace ObamaCare.

“And I can tell you a lot of people were very upset that Donald Trump and Republicans tried to take away their access to affordable healthcare,” he told host Chris Wallace on “Fox News Sunday.”

Republicans repeatedly tried to pass several iterations of bills that would repeal the Obama-era health care legislation.

Van Hollen, the head of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, said voters will also be further motivated to vote for Democrats in the upcoming 2018 elections if Republicans pass a tax reform proposal that he said will provide tax cuts for wealthy individuals and corporations while cutting tax breaks for the middle-class.

Let us not forget that reality caught up with Republicans as they tried to take away healthcare from millions to pay for tax cuts for the rich.

Repeat it at every turn.

Let the republicans deny it.

People are ready to hear it.

I hope the voter reaction was a total rejection of Trump and everything he's done and tried to do, not just healthcare.

said that the two issues (Healthcare and anti-tRump) were the reasons for the victories and the Dems should go with that for their platform in the midterms. They can tackle guns, abortion, immigration, etc at the individual local levels. I asked people who read DU what they thought and this was pretty much agreed upon as a winning strategy. Plus knocking on doors and getting people to actually vote.

that this wretched “Do Nothing (except for the billionaire class) Congress” has aided and abetted Agent Orange in his rain of ruin on America and that Democrats will fulfill the role the framers intended which is to be a barrier to further harm to the people by a despotic executive branch. Every candidate must not shy away from talking about how they will uphold the constitution and the rule of law unlike these Republicans in Congress and will protect all Americans from further harm and begin to undo the damage in order to make the government of the people better the lives of every American, particularly those whom Trump has shown contempt for and harmed. Remind the voters he lied to you and this Congress helped in carrying out his con job.

trying to ram through wildly unpopular legislation to do the bidding of the kochs and their ilk.

They can't hide now. Their agenda is out in the open. People don't like what they see.

Of course, the GOPee has been building towards this kind of anti- everyone-who-isn't-a-rich-white-male garbage for decades. People didn't or couldn't see the warning signs.
