LA radio station: We tipped off 'news partners' before publishing Franken allegations

A Los Angeles radio station is pushing back on reports that former Trump campaign adviser Roger Stone appeared to know sexual misconduct allegations involving Sen. Al Franken (D-Minn.) were coming hours before they were made public.
In a statement Friday, KABC said a very small group of employees discussed the best day for host Leeann Tweeden to come forward with her account of being forcibly kissed and groped by Franken in 2006.
The station says it informed some of our news partners so they could prepare to cover what we knew was a very significant story."
None of us involved in the decision on when to go public coordinated with any group, campaign or individuals outside of the news industry, the station said. We have no political agenda. Leeanns story is not about keeping secrets, its about letting the truth be known.

(28,914 posts)The more I learn about this stupid made up hatchet job,
the more I realize that back in the day, Franken had some
seriously bad taste!
45 and Roy Moore, though -- true sexual predators!

(67,782 posts)....do they really expect that in the course of eleven years of talking about the incident with comedian Al Franken, and now SENATOR Al Franken, with "friends, family, and co-workers", not a single one mentioned it to a single news media outlet in those eleven years? But one of them mentioned it to Roger Stone!
Really?
That makes this smell even more.

(23,199 posts)The issue isn't colluding with them, it's colluding with Roger Stone, which is kept hidden here, If this is so above board, how did Stone get the news 24 hours in advance?

(1,237 posts)"A very small group of us discussed the best day to come forward, taking into account primarily when Leeann felt ready to do so."
See, they kept Leeann in mind as they timed the release to distract from Moore and the tax cut for the rich. This wasn't politically motivated.

Cumulus Radio also owns Westwood One.
Westwood One produces talk radio shows including, among others, Mark Levin and The Savage Nation.
To be fair, they also product Stephanie Miller.
So...who got the heads up and who didn't ? And who among these three names might be the most likely conduits to the likes of Mr. Stone.
The more I hear about this, the more I'm convinced that Ms. Teegan is a victim but not necessarily of Sen. Franken.

(38 posts)Releasing this picture with the story of "I didn't know about it until I came home and saw it" looks like BS.
Based upon my own experience as a woman who served as a medic in a medical unit for 7 years in the Army National Guard, My basic question is Who sleeps wearing a Kevlar helmet, with the chin strap snapped into place? I dont believe she really was asleep. These helmets are UNCOMFORTABLE. They are not designed for comfort; they are designed to protect your head from a bullet. If I were on a plane and I wanted to take a nap, the last thing I would have on my head is a snapped into place Kevlar helmet.
I don't buy it.
