A woman approached The Post with dramatic and false tale about Roy Moore. She appears to be part of undercover sting operation.
A woman who falsely claimed to The Washington Post that Roy Moore, the Republican U.S. Senate candidate in Alabama, impregnated her as a teenager appears to work with an organization that uses deceptive tactics to secretly record conversations in an effort to embarrass its targets.
In a series of interviews over two weeks, the woman shared a dramatic story about an alleged sexual relationship with Moore in 1992 that led to an abortion when she was 15. During the interviews, she repeatedly pressed Post reporters to give their opinions on the effects that her claims could have on Moores candidacy if she went public.
The Post did not publish an article based on her unsubstantiated account. When Post reporters confronted her with inconsistencies in her story and an Internet posting that raised doubts about her motivations, she insisted that she was not working with any organization that targets journalists.
But on Monday morning, Post reporters saw her walking into the New York offices of Project Veritas, an organization that targets the mainstream news media and left-leaning groups. The organization sets up undercover stings that involve using false cover stories and covert video recordings meant to expose what the group says is media bias.

These things take time to plan, money to execute, and he needs money to live on in the meantime. I don't think it comes from profits made by buying and selling used cars on eBay. There is probably a Murdoch/Rove/Bannon trust fund out there that finances projects like O'Keefe--with enough arm's length so that if any of it ever gets made public, the money source can say, "Who, me? Never heard of the guy."

This is how the right wing propaganda machine operates. They're not even very good at it.
Take any accusations with a grain of salt. Don't trust, but do verify. If merited, run with it.
They've done this to themselves. It's not right to disbelieve a woman's account of abuse. But when that woman belongs to a group that is known for its lies and dirty tricks, thereby politicizing the abuse, no one can be taken at face value.
It's the boy who cried wolf syndrome, applied to the GOP. Project Veritas demeans and devalues true victims. True victims should be rioting against them, regardless of party affiliation.

(58,785 posts)inept and sloppy. The woman actually used the same name to the WaPo reporter and on her "GimmeMoney" account, and left other obvious clues. If they weren't so poisonous they'd be a joke.
In a March posting on its Facebook page, Project Veritas said it was seeking 12 new undercover reporters, though the organizations operatives use methods that are eschewed by mainstream journalists, such as misrepresenting themselves.
The jobs listed goal: To adopt an alias persona, gain access to an identified person of interest and persuade that person to reveal information. It also listed tasks that the job applicant should be able to master, including: Learning a script, Preparing a background story to support your role, Gaining an appointment or access to the target of the investigation, and Operating concealed recording equipment.

I believe that part of the long-term cure for people like this woman is to have their true names and faces identified and flung all over the Internet so their say-so will be garbage for decades to come. Enough of this and some of these righties will realize that lying hurts them too.

The 6 most puzzling aspects of this James OKeefe-Project Veritas botched sting debacle
By Aaron Blake November 28 at 9:22 AM
The Washington Post on Monday night published a detailed account of an apparent attempt to deceive Post reporters into believing a made-up story of a woman who says she had an abortion after Roy Moore, who is now the GOP Senate nominee in Alabama, impregnated her when she was 15. The woman was seen walking into the headquarters Monday morning of Project Veritas, a political operation that employs deceptive tactics in attempts to embarrass journalists and expose alleged bias.
But however this plot turned out, it's worth recapping just how poorly conceived and executed it was and just how embarrassing this is for Project Veritas. Shortly after the woman was seen walking into the headquarters, founder James OKeefe declined to answer questions about her connection to the organization.
Project Veritas has taken down some powerful people, but this was a mess. (And it's not alone in that distinction, as Will Sommer recounts.) Let's take it piece by piece.

(1,436 posts)Moore shouldn't be worried about the conservative Christian vote. We saw with Trump how fluid their morals and standards are. They showed us in no uncertain terms that they literally don't care what a GOP candidate says or does so long as they maintain their antiquated 1860's mentality. They also showed us that their claims of moral superiority are a load of garbage.
