Source: The Hill

BY BRANDON CARTER - 01/05/18 12:00 PM EST

Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) said Friday that reports that President Trump attempted to order Attorney General Jeff Sessions to not recuse himself from the Russia investigation is evidence the White House attempted “to obstruct justice."

I see what you are saying, war is not technically required, just adhering to an enemy. Eliot Rosewater Jan 2018 #13

It always baffles me that public recorded confessions aren't good enough when it comes to people like Trump.

brought because we are not technically at war with Russia, but that is what it is.

And if any democrat did this, charges of treason would be everywhere.

Since the 2016 election hack and coup, we technically are.

Besides, I don't see that war is technically required; it is one of several possible causes to prosecute for treason:

18 U.S. Code § 2381 - Treason
https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/18/2381

Whoever, owing allegiance to the United States, levies war against them or adheres to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort within the United States or elsewhere, is guilty of treason and shall suffer death, or shall be imprisoned not less than five years and fined under this title but not less than $10,000; and shall be ...

Treason should be prosecuted fully when the President commits it.

After all, Jeff Sessions is a lawyer and former prosecutor. He had to know that he would recuse himself if the Russian involvement ever came up. Probably Sessions told him, and Trump wasn't listening and had no clue what it meant.

Now he knows.
