Schiff: Trump 'badgering' spurred Clinton Foundation investigatio
Source: MSN/CNN
House Intelligence Committee ranking member Adam Schiff suggested Sunday that the White House pressed federal authorities to investigate allegations of corruption against the Clinton Foundation, the charity of former President Bill and Hillary Clinton.
"If they are investigating Hillary Clinton, it doesn't take a genius -- let alone a 'stable genius' -- to see why," Schiff said on CNN's "State of the Union," referring to President Donald Trump's tweet Saturday that he's a "very stable genius."
"It's not because some new evidence has come to light," Schiff added. "It's because they're being badgered by the White House to do it."
The FBI and federal prosecutors are looking into whether foundation donors were improperly promised policy favors or special access to Hillary Clinton while she was secretary of state and whether tax-exempt funds were misused, an official told CNN.

(34,661 posts)There have been story after story of how Trump operates. Why does he keep Roger Stone and other so called tricksters in his circle. Dig the dirt on his perceived enemies. He has been doing this for decades. Now that he is facing someone who knows how he works the system, Donnie is going all in,not realizing he will be run out of town and most likely broke.

(17,390 posts)I suspect that similar to his use of his charities to launder contributions into payments to his businesses, Trump sought to use his campaign to pocket campaign contributions. You can't legally pocket campaign contributions.
However, Trump would ask for campaign contributions. Then hold campaign events at Trump businesses and properties and pay such venues the full retail value for holding such an event. Trump collected hundreds of millions, yet spent relatively little on traditional campaign events. Trump even ran his campaign as a means to personally profit.

President-elect Donald Trumps charitable foundation has admitted to the Internal Revenue Service that it violated a legal prohibition against self-dealing, which bars nonprofit leaders from using their charitys money to help themselves, their businesses or their families.
The admission was contained in the Donald J. Trump Foundations IRS tax filings for 2015, which were recently posted online at the nonprofit-tracking site GuideStar. A GuideStar spokesman said the forms were uploaded by the Trump Foundations law firm, Morgan, Lewis & Bockius.
The Washington Post could not immediately confirm if the same forms had actually been sent to the IRS.
In one section of the form, the IRS asked whether the Trump Foundation had transferred income or assets to a disqualified person. A disqualified person, in this context, might be Trump the foundations president or a member of his family or a Trump-owned business.
The foundation checked yes.
